Weren't they always? It's been years, but I thought the nerf was that it was no longer an instant click (like the set I had) but they were given a cast time on them?

Journeyman's Boots were never nerfed, they just addded in Traveler's Boots that you could buy from a merchant for 5250pp and they had a 1.5 second cast time. You can still do the Journeyman's Boots quest to get 0.0 cast time boots. I don't know if multi-questing is still in the game though so you might not be able to sell them.

They were always No Drop, too. The only change made to them is removing them from the Drelzna's drop table in Najena and making them a quest reward from Hasten Bootstrutter.

They merged EC and WC into one large Commonlands zone, with all the new graphics for even more crashing goodness. Sure, Shady is still there, surrounded by Morden Rasp's lackeys, but "First Torch, Second Torch" - I don't even remember seeing any torches last time through.

I remember being weirded out at first that Lanys had their merchanting going on in the tunnel there. On my original server, they used to sit at the bank in Freep and the evils would all hang out in the sewer tunnel nearby.

EC made much more sense, but I remember initially being very confused as to why so many people were gathered there and the bank in NFP was empty :p

On my original server, the marketplace was the orc lift of Kelethin. Loads of high levels there for newbs to run to when orc hill pwned them. <3.

Lots of people 10King from the bank, too, I bet. Ahh, good times.

My mule did whenever he needed to get to bind to start traveling for a sale. We in the business call the a Ranger Gate.

I still remember when they ran fabled Najena and had the Fabled Jboots. Right click, insta-cast targettable SoW. I camped those boots for umpteen hours, waiting in line... people were falling asleep left and right or trying to gank the boots for themselves instead of waiting in line. I wanted them so I could right-clicky SoW me and my pet.

Finally got em, then a few days later they nerfed them to self only SoW with some other name.

ARGH! I'm still ticked off about it, now that I think about it. My wife still gives me grief since I spent so long camping it... The one and only time I think I camped something for nearly 1 day straight.

Anyone remember back when we first started having the EC bazaars?? It was like a once a week thing on sundays or whatever for a bit before it just started being 24/7.

Didn't rubicite drop the day the mobs were borked after a patch and dropping things that they weren't supposed to? I know a ranger friend got some sort of brown pants that were amazingly stupendous at the time and cloak of flames were dropping from spiders.

Jboots originally dropped in Najena, but I can't recall where Rubi dropped....

I do remember a glitch with a patch where Rubi was dropping off mobs in Cazic Thule for a few days though. This was a mistake that was quickly rectified.

BTC were the boobie prize, but this was the place to be if you played on Rallos back in those days. It wasn't uncommon to have 3 or 4 groups at a time going at it to claim the area. I remember looting so many bronze breastplates off people fighting down here. If I still have my old old old hard drive in fireproof box i'll see about getting an external shell to grab some really oldschool EQ pics. I know I have hundreds just taken in the first two weeks of the games launch.

Both rubicite and jboots were removed/changed on October 13th, 1999. I dont know if Manastone got the axe in this patch or not, I think it was a month later. I do remember the bugged mobs dropping shit they weren't supposed to, but I'd hardly consider it as "dropping" on the server.

This shit was sought after unlike anything I've seen in an MMO. The first real "tier" set in my opinion.
