Reading through these old threads, I am thoroughly embarrassed by some of the positions I've taken and some of the arguments I've made.

So, I wanted to take a moment and just say: I apologize. I was a dipshit, raised by bigots, and completely ignorant to a number of things that would have, or should have, made me view the world differently. I advocated for things that now make me angry to hear from someone else. I said things that were based in an ideology that I did not understand. I made an awful lot of really stupid comments about things regarding which I was entirely uneducated and inexperienced.

I said these things here, and in my "real" life, and I am genuinely ashamed by many of them.

I think I've grown more empathetic and, hopefully, wise in the past ten years. It's been a slow process, and I still stumble sometimes. But I'm working on it.

Anyways, I doubt anyone will see this. The board has been truly dead for some time. But I felt like I needed to let you all know that I'd grown up. And that I am sorry for the dumb shit I've said over the years here.

I'll tell ya, the conversations and arguments here really helped open my eyes to some of the things I didn't really understand or have experience with. This board really helped me grow as an adult.

And I doubt we'd argue all that much now. I'm pretty far left at this point, especially for a white guy living in Arizona.

I think part of the reason I check back in with this community very infrequently is that I don't like the version of me you'd all remember. I was a moron, and it's embarrassing talking to people who remember that.
