While the EQClassic project remains vaporware, there's a server built on EQEmu code up right now called Project 1999, and it's fully classic 1999-era EQ1, with all quests, mobs, zones, planes, etc implemented. It averages over 300 unique players a night (IP-based ban on two-boxing).

If you're wondering how it is, well, there are Unrest and Crushbone groups every single night. =)

I'll probably give this a shot just because it is about time for winter break and EQ2 is in expansion limbo.

It's fun Surcam, but don't think for a minute it's anything like classic eq. You'll end up disappointed.

I just wish I could find a game again that is fun.. with fun people,, grouping... some of the old style play.. hate soloing all the time.. join guilds and nobody talks.. even to say hello.. its rush to high lvl so you can yell I', bored.. tiny zones where you cant even move before you get attacked. But I guess those days are gone
