Because I'd wait a week after launch and burn the fucker to the ground after everyone quit, as is typical lanys tradition.

I know what he means. We'll get a 30+ Lanys guild showing for the first week and then by the second week everyone will quit except Givin. Like we've done for the past 10 major mmo releases.

Yep, that is a great summary! You all should post this on the facebook page.

Well, in all fairness, the last 10 MMO releases have been fucking TERRIBLE for the most part :P

Sorry Given my bad! I'm committed to playing with my nephew so unless it sucks hard we'll be at least getting to level 50 to raid both pve and pvp. Be nice to have some Lanys friends in some capacity.

Given.. you going to give FF14:ARR a try?

But yeah, my experience with TESO and Neverwinter has been very meh. Its not that they are "bad" per say, but I doubt its going to hold anyone's attention.

TESO, we'll be SWTOR again. Big IP & name bringing in a lot of MMO virgins due to the Skyrim connection, it will draw some MMO'ers as well just because we're suckers but ultimately everyone will find out there's nothing special or anything to do after the first few weeks.

What upcoming MMO has a chance to hold the interest of the highly particular lanys crowd?
Titan in 2015? ESO does seem like it will be another SWTOR, but I do enjoy paying $60 to be the first in the door of a party, to return a year or two later when it becomes F2P.

I gotta say, Rift has been pretty fun. From what I've heard from people who came back from a lengthy absence, all of the changes are for the better (and who doesn't like taking zero fall damage when leaping from a mountain?!). The Patron rewards are pretty nice as well.

Sounds like EQ Next is in the works. Seems I read someplace that it suppose to be out at the end ov this year, I'm not sure if that is going to happen though. They arent even in beta yet. They have a start of a home page, where you can tweet the Dervs what you would like to see in the game. No screen shots or anything on the game yet. so dont see how it can come out this year yet.

Would be cool to have alot of the old gamers on one server again. I'm a bit tired of all the Powerling for pay ane mercs in games now, it suprises me some to see all the chat about people wanting to be powerlvld or will powlvl people. I remember back when, if players knew you where powerlvld you wouldnt get a group. But I think those kind of games are a thing of the past.

I figure everyone who wanted in the beta has already gotten in. In case I'm wrong, they are doing a stress test this weekend. If you don't have a beta code, you can grab a free one from curse.com

I actually had fun in the Beta this weekend as well (playing a Nightblade, even though I died quite often). Not sure what changed for me (maybe I'm just itching to play a MMORPG again) but I didn't have that much fun in the other three or four Beta weekends I participated in prior to this one.

Anyone around in this weekend's beta? I need friends.

I have a beta key I can share if anyone is interested. Apparently I have zero friends who are going to play this game with me.

I'm playing with Ballhaus, Crowde, and a few others. Look up @EQBallzz or @PenoNation (We are planning on being Ebonheart Pact when the game is released).

What, you're not going with the incredibly overpowered racials of the Aldmeri Dominion?
Seems like everyone and their grandmother is playing either an Altmer or Khajiit, depending on their choice of caster or melee.

That said, I might try this one out. Been in the last 4 beta weekends, or at least for the few hours the game was playable and when I had time to actually game. Still somewhat buggy a mere month from release, and the combat system is a little awkward - or at least I find it to be, others quite enjoy it. But the graphics, lore, and good memories alone are going to win over a lot of people, myself included, in much the same way that EQ Next will attract a lot of old EQ players.

Apparently, the builds in the betas were like 3 behind what is currently on the Private Test Server. That server has improved animations, collision (with NPCs/mobs, but not in PVP), etc. Anyone who preorders can play any race with any alliance, so I'm sure the Altmer & Khajiit will trickle to other alliances as well as just the Dominion. I'll be playing an Imperial.

Well, in the past several betas so far I've played:

1h+shield DK (Ardent Flame mostly, heavy armour tank setup)
DW DK (equal spec in all lines, medium armour with igneous weapons)
Resto staff Templar (Dawn's Wrath caster setup, with some healing)
DW Templar (Dawn's + Aedric pbaoe melee setup)
Bow / DW Nightblade
Resto staff Nightblade (caster setup)

So far I like them all, and none have emerged as THE build for me over the others. So in short, I have no clue what to play.

*sigh*

Doubt it. Early release is a week away.

PS - Altmer and Khajiit "adjusted".

It all begins next Sunday 3/30 at 7am EST

I like to heal, so likely going Imperial Templar, but they class supports a paladin'esque tank and spell DPS, so jack of all, master of none likely (other than heals)

So with a North America mega-server, what are the limitations on guilds other than 300 members?
There are not faction limitations?

Azzi

You can be in up to 5 guilds. There are no faction limitations, as your guild is account-bound (so if you make a character with a different alliance from your original, it will still start out in the guild.

When we start out, we will have a main guild and a secondary used just for tradeskill guild bank space. You're welcome to join us.

My tag in-game is @penonation.
I believe Ballhaus is @eqballzz.

Still quite a few broken quests due to too many people in an area. Leveling feels a bit easier from what is was in beta as well. The rift style events seem to be working and they are mega exps.

Not too bad.

How To Craft With the Buddy System

1...Grab a friend
2...Collect a lot of resources
3...Mass produce a EDIT: LOWEST LEVEL item in the tier of resource that you are currently on that costs the least amount of resources. (Iron Daggers, Jute Boots for tier)
4...Trade the items to your bro to break down. You get more exp for breaking items down that you loot or someone else makes. Don't break your own shit.
5...Have your bro make the items and trade them back to you.

Repeat

EDIT:

Also, kill all mudcrabs. Mudcrabs drop leather and often.

ALWAYS BE RESEARCHING SOMETHING

To craft items at the special tradeskill areas for the set pieces, they require that you have a certain number of research items unlocked for whatever you are trying to make. It starts with two required. You need to do this for any item you want to make.

For Alchemy, you want to always use the highest level water available to you. Unless you are swimming in herbs, which is possible, creating lower level waters is a waste of resources now.

You can throw the stuff in the bank and have an alt break it. Kind of redundant tho but it works as a last minute solution.

Easy way to get Racial Motifs and Recipes so you can make the other races stuff. Find a building with a lot of chests, trunks, desks. Loot them all then relog and reloot. They will all respawn.

Best place to do this is a bank, inn, or a nobles house with a lot of furniture.

How to Horse:

You can own multiple horses. Just visit the stables and purchase additional slots. If you bought the imperial edition or a palomino horse in the store, these will cost 1 gold for any of your characters.

You can feed these horses every day to raise one of three stats. Runspeed, Carry capacity and durability. I see no need for durability right now.

So here's what you do. Buy one horse and train runspeed every day. This horse is used for PVP.

Buy a second horse and train carry capacity every day. This is your PVE horse. You can get an extra 50 inventory slots this way.

Some great information!

I'm enjoying this game so far.

It's taking some getting used to (I was never a huge Elder Scrolls fanatic), but some of the solo quest boss fights are fairly challenging. It still feels, in some ways, to be a single player game, but I guess that was kind of the intent to keep the Elder Scrolls fan base interested. I started off hating the whole "no floating name-tag" thing, but I'm starting to come around to it as it certainly keeps the screen less cluttered and feels like everything (and everyone) is part of the world.

Not sure how you guys feel about the graphics, but I've been using SweetFX and it makes a HUGE improvement on them. I had no real problems with the graphics from the beginning, but the haze over everything did sort of bug me.

HERE is a Reddit post showing what to do, but in a nutshell, you download SweetFX and extract it to a folder, then download and run RadeonPro. Follow the directions on that Reddit post, then you can either adjust the settings yourself, or use a preset. There's one preset called Perfection that someone made (you can download it HERE) and another one that I use that can be downloaded HERE.

I will say that, unless you tweak some settings, you may experience a problem with the text. I personally have no issues reading anything on the screen, but others with more sensitive eyes have complained that the quality of the text suffers when using SweetFX. Anyway, here are some screenshots:

By the way, I'm sure you could probably get these same settings with some tweaks to your monitor's settings, but I found this way much easier. Unfortunately, I cannot get FRAPS to work with RadeonPro, though (it seems to be a known issue). And, of course, the GeForce Experience does not work while running RadeonPro, so if you use it to stream to Twitch, or record video, you may not be able to (there may be some workarounds to the above problems, but I have not figured them out, if so).

Such a fun game, but they have got to get some of these bugs and quality of life issues sorted out. I got hit with the disappearing bank space bug last night and lost 50 inventory slots + 50 random items including my yellow runes that I had saved up.

Thank God for the modding community so far. They've really fixed a lot of shit and put in features that should have been in day one.

The PVP emperor race is hilariously bad right now. One dude on Wabbajack has like 10 million points and his closest competition only has like 3. He will forever be emperor every time Daggerfall takes the keeps. I had heard they were going to change the way you get emperor tho.

All in all I think I will stick with it. Healing is pretty fun in dungeons.

I'm really getting bored with EQ2 and can't seem to get enough interest to go back to EQ so been kid of looking for something to play. Also If I get the game what server is everyone on?

The game has PVP and PVE. Dungeons, etc. There are only 2 mega servers. One for the overseas folks, and one for North America.

'ang on. This crafting thing can be solved with an alt, the storage system is shared account-wide... and someone wrote a guide that requires a TESO player to coordinate with a friend in order to solve this problem? I feel like we don't have all the information.

The bank is shared across characters. Therefore, you can deposit shit into your bank, make an alt, withdraw shit from the bank, get back on your main, deposit more shit into bank, make another alt, withdraw shit, etc. It's mildly inconvenient, but it does the job. Since you can skip the tutorial after you do it once, your alts can just end up a short walk away from the bank from the start. You can also then use these alts to loot the desks/chests/nightstands in the bank in hopes of getting Motifs, which you can then sell for 1-2k gold.

I'm really curious as to what their first big patch is going to contain. They have been pretty silent other than the additional vet rank stuff they are planning on. Honestly I hope they postpone all that stuff to work on the multitude of quality of life fixed and additions the game should have shipped with.

It's still pretty fun, but there is a long laundry list of shit that needs fixed or improved, and fast. If it weren't for modders, the game would be a lot less enjoyable than it is. Here is my list thus far.

1...The LFG tool is useless. If you are a tank or healer, you can just enter and exit groups at will until you find one that's ready to go. Many time, if you sit in it waiting for it to fill you group, it will stop searching altogether and randomly clear who has leader status. This means nobody can invite and your group is pretty much fucked. To add to the frustration, there is no way to know if you are 100% in the queue at all. It may say searching but it's a graphical bug. Tested this with both a tank and healer grouped and queue'd only as those roles. 45 mins pass and no DPS were added. This was for Wayrest Sewers.

Now, when the stars align and everything works as it's supposed to, most of the dungeons are baller as fuck.

2...Inventory management is a pain in the dick. I'm not talking about the limited item space available to you. No way to white list items as of yet, other than a general category with a mod, makes carrying around multiple sets of gear a hassle. This isn't so bad leveling up but for some builds it's a must do when you hit VR content.

3..Duping and botting is out of control. They recently threw out a massive ban wave for duping. Reports from Reddit and seeing people who were shitcanned for this are getting back in game with all their inventory intect. These people are now giving away all their duped shit. I've got 5 mails sitting in my mailbox with 100k from random people saying how they are quitting the game and giving their stuff away in random acts of kindness. You also can't delete a mail if it has an attachment.

Bots in action the other night in Rivenspire.

4...Public Delves are shit. This is more personal opinion than anything. Right now they are nothing more than indoor skyshards and a possible fetch quest. Good luck getting a tag on the last boss to finish out the delve. The boss will spawn when a new person comes into the area way before you can see it. The 300 people camping it will have it dead before you get there. Now you have to wait until someone else comes along to get a tag. Forget getting loot from it. Its best to just get completion and move on.

I'd much rather see these as personal dungeons with the option to bring in a group. They've said they have a fix for the boss bullshit in the works but I feel it's more a missed opportunity than anything. I like the public dungeon side of this. Finding the boss in there that gives a skillpoint is pretty fun.

5...Holy fuck Enchanting. Since they removed any jewel crafting component, it's a bitch to level up and rivals provisioning for top spot for inventory resource.

6...Random Cyrodiil crashes. Right now, if you roll with a group larger than 12 you run the risk of crashing. Zoning into a dungeon there will crash your shit. This seems to be completely random.

7...The interface is pretty shit. I've accepted the fact that we have to work with both character names and account names but god damn is inviting people a pain in the shitter. Luckily there is an add-on that makes inviting a breeze by inviting based on a trigger word.

That's my list so far. I'm sure there are things that I forgot, like bad tooltip wording for some abilities, shit character sheet information and just random bullshit things but those are the things that stand out to me. I think I'll give them two months or so and see how they game develops. We'll see. It doesn't feel hopeless like a lot of MMO's we've tried in the past but they 've got a big hill to climb.

They could also fix the soft cap/overcharge mechanic. It doesn't take any real effort to be overcharged in multiple stats, especially if you have a Cyrodiil campaign buff.
