I wasn't watching Sing-Off because I really don't like reality shows, even if they masquerade as talent showcases. A trio right out of high school in Texas signed up a couple extra folks, met them the day before the first show, and won the third season. Because they are goddamned awesome.

Examples:

Daft Punk compilation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MteSlpxCpo
Drummer Boy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ_MGWio-vc
Royals - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9XQ2MdNgKY
Radioactive - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE2GCa-_nyU (with Lindsay Stirling)

If you're not into it, meh. I'm personally a big fan of music made entirely of voices (the Lindsay Stirling track has some strings because that's her thing and the guy beatboxing is also a cellist).

You'll need good sound on the low spectrum; if you're listening on a laptop, you will not hear the bassist at all.

If you have a half decent laptop, this is not true at all. :sun:

Fair enough, my test platforms were my phone and my work laptop for that. Both sound fine with headphones, though.

I enjoy them quite a bit, and yes they are really good.

I liked it better when the recordings released weren't so produced. I know they are talented-- so I want to hear them as they are, not all perfect out of a recording studio.

I go back and forth on that. Some of the produced stuff only sounds good because it was studio, so their options were do it that way or don't do it. I don't think those tracks cheapen the live recordings, and they still do them sometimes.
