Kind of looks like shit. Tony Stark is good when he's funny, not when he's sad and/or serious.

It's already better than Iron Man 2.

Well yeah but I'd much rather have Iron Man 3 be an Avengers follow-up than an Iron Man 2 follow-up.

From what I can tell, Iron Man 3 is an Avengers follow-up.

But what I mean is the whole "I'm so sad because I'm Iron Man" shit is not what I'm looking for. I want crackin' wise RDJ to make some jokes and grab Gwyneth Paltrow's ass and then blow up a blimp or something. Not "aw shit I'm on the run because turns out there are other billionaires and I'm kind of a prick." It just seems like Favreau's let the series get too far away from what made the first one awesome.

It could be fine, but I don't know. The best parts of the first Iron Man weren't when he was in the cave in Afghanistan, it was literally everything that came after. This just looks like "hey remember when he didn't have all his stuff? That was kind of cool right?" And the answer is not so much.

I am assuming you, really, have not read the comic in the past?

Tony has been a self-absorbed emo since the 70's. IN love with his secretary he could never tell, alcoholic, constantly living in fear someone will figure out his tech and use it on civilians, etcetera

HE nearly got himself killed in the late 80's during the Armor Wars when he found out much of his armor tech was out there being used, Titanium Man, US government armors used in prisons. He went out to neutralize all of it, he accidentally killed Titanium man, and ransacked a US prison to destroy his own tech in the hands of people not himself.

Tony Stark is supposed to be a bundle of self pity, and personal problems.it's who the character is. Be happy he shows ANY smiles in the movies at all.

I'm not sure the Tony Stark portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. has much in common with the comic book character outside of name, some specific story beats, and his superhero alter-ego.

Except they are trying. to show that personality from the comics, and some people... are bitching about it.
