I'm in if you want/need a 14th; otherwise I'll drop. Honestly, I haven't had much time to look at who/what/where in the NFL lately.

Join up Kula. We're probably going to end up at 16 now, but that's cool. Jox is in so otherwise we'll end up odd.

I posted on the league message board Saturday, but I notice it's gone. I was unable to get any of the 3 people from Lanys that I currently play EQ with to play.

I notice we bumped the team number up to 18. I really start loosing interest if we're going to that many teams. I play this league only, unlike others who are in multiple, normal sized leagues and seem to want this league to be there alternative odd size league.

To me 14 is ideal, since we have a 13 week regular season and everyone plays everyone once. There is no imbalance in schedule with a team gaining an advantage of not having to play the league juggernaut or getting free wins from both the owners who quit after week 10. Plus going above 14 and the free agent pool goes to shit and it becomes difficult to improve your team as the season goes along.

I thought we were settled on 14. Could we please settle on the numbers before the draft. Quite frankly if we go past 14 I may drop out.

Count me out if there are 16 people. 14 is ALMOST too many. People had ample opportunity to join and didn't.

Great draft guys, all things considered. I would say almost everyone has a good chance, unless the Saints go off and beat the hell out of everyone.

Haha, well at least he picked a good team to draft entirely. The first year we ran this league, someone drafted like 80 percent cleveland browns. It was grand.

I like some teams better than others, but none really seem horrible. On first impression, I really like Neesha and Derf's teams. They seem solid all the way around. Shurmanators drafted the best starters, IMO, but not super fond of his bench. Fribs autodrafted a surprisingly playable team as well.. hehe

should be an interesting season. Looking forward to it.

Yeah... I have yet to make a draft... I don't even try to schedule it-- I am rarely home in the evenings. Auto-draft did me well last year, and it's going to have to do me well this year!

I think I knocked off the #1 team (a week after being on the losing end of the biggest blowout)

Damn fun league

Yup. I knew I'd see a drop-off once Arian Foster was back and I could no longer count on Ben Tate.

This has become my favorite league. I scored 105 points to win and I was the 4th lowest score for the week. Last week I was the loser of the biggest blowout and the week before that I was the winner in the biggest blowout.

Every move is huge. Every point is large. Now with the Bye Weeks starting it will be that much more critical to perform.

My favorite league is the one that I won the last 2 years. The prize for winning was $2000 each time. :D

Pretty decent team in that league this year as well. If DeAngelo would get more than 10 touches a game I'd be sitting pretty.

Image

$260 salary cap at the draft, which then goes up to $310 after the draft (the $390 cap shown is the "hard" cap, which you can never go over). If you go over $310 at any point after week 9.. even if it only for a week... that extra money comes off of your cap at the next draft. We also do blind bids on free agents each week (which is why I have a $12 Demarcus Ware and a $7 Ed Dickson).

Also, it is a keeper league. We can keep 3 players (unless 2 of them are RB, in which case we can only keep 2). When we originally draft a person, we "sign" them to a 3 year contract. If they are rookies, we "sign" them to a 4 year contract. Thus, I will be able to keep Daniel Thomas, AJ Green, and Julio Jones for the next 4 years at their current salaries (assuming I never drop any of them). Not a bad nucleus for the future.

Yea, we've had the same league for over 20 years. Most of the guys have remained the same since we started, but from time to time, dudes drop out and we get replacements. Those guys usually have it a bit rougher, since so many guys are kept. This guy is new to the league this year:

Image

As you can see, he spent all of his cash on 2 big players. Probably not the best move, but he should be able to win a few games if they both go nuts in the same week.

We also have 1 Restricted Free Agent (RFA). Before our draft, everyone can write down one guy from their roster that they'd like to designate as their RFA. We then blind bid on all RFAs by writing down an amount for everyone we'd like to bid on. The commish then reads off the highest bid on a player and that player's owner has the option to keep him for 1 year at that highest bid, or give him to the bidder. Once they are RFA'd once, they automatically go back into the draft the next year. This year, Aaron Rodgers was my RFA (I had him the previous 3 years for $1). The highest blind bid on him was $95, so I matched it and got him. Next year, he will be back in the draft.

This has lead to some very Lanys-like drama in the past. A few years ago, a guy put up Drew Brees as his RFA, but he also bid on Peyton Manning. Drew Brees' name was the first called, and the high bid was $78, so the guy decided to match the bid and kept Brees. A few names later, we called out Peyton Manning. Well, the Brees owner had the highest bid on Manning ($69). That left the original Peyton owner with a dilemma - keep Manning for $69, or let the Brees owner also have Manning, thus making him spend most of his $260 salary cap on 2 QBs. Of course, the other 10 people at the draft immediately started with a "FUCK HIS DRAFT! FUCK HIS DRAFT!" chant, and that is exactly what he ended up doing.

Good times.

ps: This year, that same Brees owner spent all of his cash before he had a QB. During the auction, every time he'd throw out a QB for $1 (his max bid), someone would bid $2 so he couldn't get a QB. He ended up getting so pissed that he packed up all of his shit and left before the draft was even over. Needless to say, he is no longer in the league (we kicked him out, and he refuses to speak with anyone, even when the commissioner asked him for his address to mail him his $340 entry fee). The guy that took over his team is currently undefeated, and just traded Vincent Jackson for Philip Rivers. He also was high scorer the first 2 weeks, which pays out $40 each time.

Here's that team:

Heh, I'd actually like to try an auction draft league some year. That league looks like fun. I don't have that kind of money to blow on fantasy football atm, but the structure of the league looks like good times.

I am fond of the league here anyway though. The last couple of years, particularly, we've done pretty well at keeping it competitive. The difference in points from first place to last place has been pretty reasonable of late. I like when the whole league manages their team through the whole season.

Lots of players panned out differently than I expected this year though... heh, it's been an interesting season already.

I got a little revenge today. I was down 4 points so the only way I could have won at the end was for Aaron Hernandez to catch that last TD, then I had to hope that Dez wouldn't get a garbage catch at the end.

actually, in the four games that Dez has played, he has just two receptions in the 2nd half of all those games combined. One of those was the Washington game, near the end, Romo was running for his life (like usual) saw Dez standing at the line and flung it to him in an act of desperation.

Stats are a bitch

Romo is a putz. I knew I shouldn't have drafted that guy. Heh.

Course, that's pretty much the story of my team... at least I'm still starting Romo. Most of the rest of my initial starting lineup is gone. I'm actually feeling really lucky to be 3-3 at this point.

I didn't think that the Rams would be THAT bad.

Dallas made two pickups this week, an o-lineman and a real fullback. Both played big dividends today.

Heh, any given Sunday and all that...

In other news, drafting the entire Saints roster isn't looking like such a bad idea anymore. Haha, 62 points, wtf!

Another week, another game coming down to the wire for me. I feel like a team who can score points but who can't stop anyone on defense.

I'm a little irritated at myself this week-- I left a 30+ point performance on the bench when I fully intented to start him. I just forgot to log in and make the switch before Sunday afternoon.

And that cost me the game :(.

Heh, I sorta did that too. I had three decent WR choices and I just knew whoever I left on the bench was going to have a big day. Sure enough, 10 points each from my starters and 31 points from Julio Jones. I was actually happy that I got beat by a lot, so that it didn't matter.

Yea, any time I lose and I have lots of points on the bench, I always hope it wouldn't have mattered who I started.

As important as depth is in Fantasy, I find that I usually do the best when I don't have options (this works out great, as long as one of your studs doesn't get hurt).

By the way, what a difference a few trades can make. In my big money league, I went from this roster, which I posted earlier:

... to this roster:

A month ago, I traded Julio Jones (keeper for 3 more years at $19), DeSean Jackson, Daniel Thomas (keeper for 3 more years at $2), and DeAngelo Williams to a guy who pretty much gave up on his season after losing every week, and got Matt Forte (#2 RB), Chris Johnson, and Kevin Walter.

Then 2 weeks ago, I traded CJ and Vernon Davis for Jason Witten.

I also traded Jordy Nelson for Brandon Lloyd when Lloyd was still a Bronco, but that one is pretty much a wash.

Should be an interesting final half of the season
