Just spent the day with my son at the NFL Experience. I have to say that is A LOT of fun. If it ever gets to a town near you I recommend that you go to it

I went to it a few years back when it was in AZ. It was cool I guess, but I'm not a Football fan tho. It was cool seeing all the stuff they had there, but I'm not a fan of the sport...so I did not get a lot out of it...other than hanging out with my friends for the weekend.

the second best thing (the first was getting to see, be around and have photos taken with the Lombardi Trophy) was the memorabilia exhibits. My son and I got our picture taken next to the Steel Curtain banner that used to hang in Three Rivers Stadium during the first Steeler Dynasty. Was cool to share that with my boy.



The guy with the banner said that it was up for auction and currently had a bid of over $6,000

the weather here has been absolutely horrible since early Tuesday morning, that is when the ice and sleet started to fall. The temps have not been above 30, hell haven't been much above 20, since then. Also, there has been little to no sun to start any melting. After about 3-6" of ice around the Metroplex we added 4-6" of snow today (and still very little sun and sub-freezing temps). The latest guess is that we will have temps finally above freezing tomorrow.

The Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex is not made for dealing with snow and ice. There are a ton of multi-lane overpasses, flyovers, and bridges. They don't have enough men and machinery to handle any sort of big winter weather event, let alone ICEMAGEDDON 2011!

1) Christina Aguilera - hoooooooow looooooooong caaaaaaaaaan weeeeeeee hoooooooooooold oooooooooooooooour faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaailuuuuuuuuuuuuure

2) Black Eyed Peas - good to see that they brought in some other stars - overall performance was not enlightening.

3) Jerry and the NFL - trying to shoe-horn a few extra thousands into the Death Star but not having Fire Marshal approval was just BAD. There were 1,200 people that bought tickets that ended up not having seats. They had to stand in an area where they had an even worse view of the field than they would have had in the unfinished bleachers in the upper-upper-upper deck (the Jerry-tron actually blocked their view and they were at an angle where they could not see the screen)

4) Roethlisberger - don't throw to the guys in the yellow helmets.

The DFW Metroplex has a huge black eye for SB XLV. The weather was not something that the planners could control, but the snow and ice removal was and it was non-existant (3-4" of ice is horrible, four days of sub-20 weather with no sun makes it worse, add 4-6" of snow on top of the ice makes it impossible) Weather for the weekend was actually nice, until mid-way through the second half when the temps dropped in the 30's and started to rain. The rain didn't impact the game, but the few thousand people that purchased Party Tickets to watch the game on big screen tv's outside (no tent) were soaked. With this experience I highly doubt that the Super Bowl will be back in DFW any time soon.

Was good to see that Fergie got her tier 11 shoulders.

The half time show was terrible, and I don't think it was the performers' fault as much as the sound guy who missed turning on the mic at the beginning, and had the voices too loud for the music for almost the entire performance (aside from Usher's, whose mic was turned down too much).

B.E.P. is great, but the performance was screwed by the sound crew. Not much the band can do about that other than keep going.

Here is what happened to a lot of people in the "temporary section".
First the NFL did not alert the ticket holders to a potential issue before game day.

Next, after the sections were closed (over 1,200 seats for paying ticket holders) the information was still very slow to get to the workers. Adding to issues was that four of the ten gates were closed due to the risk of falling snow and ice plus they opened the gates to the public over an hour late.

When the ticket holders for the closed sections were scanned they were sent to a holding area, one of the outside party patios, and were kept there with little more information and then caused a delay for yet again more paying ticket holders to get into the area where they were to watch the game.

Finally, after two plus hours of standing and waiting, they were given replacement seats or were given a spot in a bar inside the stadium to watch the game (many had missed most of the first quarter before getting settled).

I feel really bad for those people that spent a lot of money to travel to Dallas, bought tickets in the hopes of watching the game in person, yet get stuck in a bar inside the stadium.

I blame Jerry and the NFL for this SNAFU. They took what is an otherwise gorgeous stadium (I am not a Cowboy's fan) and tried to shoe-horn too many seats in the place. They can't "blame" the weather for this issue because they knew that there would be a game on Feb. 6th and there has not been a football game in the stadium in 2011.

However, the people that were displaced may be thankful that they didn't have to watch the game from those sections. Those areas were so high up and at an angle where they could not watch the Jumbo Jerry-Tron or the big screens on either end and that the video center actually blocked their view of a good portion of the field.

on a somewhat related note, the DFW metroplex got hit by another snowstorm yesterday and faced overnight lows in the low teens
