With some NFL training camps starting this weekend, figured it was as good a time as any to start a thread for 2010 season. Has the league been set up yet?

I can do it again if we're sticking with Yahoo. Didn't we mention something last year about putting in some cash?

How do we want to do that if we still do? Everyone paypal moneys to someone and just leave it on your paypal to be sent out after the season?

There was mention of maybe everyone putting like 20 bucks in a paypal account (paypaling it to someone you all trusted) and the winner getting the cash at the end of the season.

I'll play again, 20 bucks is fine if we want to do that. Been waiting to see the FF league thread... one of the last few reasons I check these boards at all anymore. heh

Someone set it up and post details!

We'll finalize details on the paypal deal in a couple weeks. Any volunteers to hold the funds?

And is 20.00 alright with everyone?

If you need a volunteer to hold on to the money, I'll hold it. I'm not going to play so I don't have a vested interest in it.

I'd like to do this but I'm going to be in a big money league with some friends this year (like 30 players with multiple divisions and promotion/relegation), so I'm probably going to focus my fantasty football efforts that way.

Am I doing something wrong with the link you provided Xantheus? When I click on it I get the following message, "You are not allowed to view this page because you are not in this league. (Error #152)"

We're still missing 7 teams from last year. If you're not playing please let us know. Anyone else who wishes to join before those 7 do, feel free.

We'll give people 2 more weeks to register and then 2 weeks to pay dues and then it will be draft time.

We're ramping up for a series of major projects at work and this fall is going to be stupidly busy for me. I'd probably turn into one of those guys who never trades or manages his team if I get too busy.

Time for playoffs!

Sad to say that Neesha took a very hot close of the season to make the last playoff spot. Going 3-1 over their last 4, averaging over 111 points in those games (the only game not over 100 was their 99-120 loss to Java4Blood) makes Neesha a tough out in the playoffs even with a 6-7 overall record. However, the only team that could be called hotter than Neesah is Derf's Angy Rangers. Winners of their last four and averaging over 106 points in those games it should be a very high scoring affair between these two. With how this league usually finishes, don't be surprised to see Neesha beat Derf to continue the Lanys curse of the top seed.

In the 2 v 7 match up Frib (3-1 last 4 avg 104.26) faces Surcam (2-2, 101.26). Both teams have run HOT and COLD all year. Should be an interesting game. Frib has lost a few key players this year, but has been active enough through trades and waiver pickups to keep his team among the leaders

3 v 6 is Amen Gmen vs Belzek. Both teams are 2-2 over their last 4, neither averaging near 100 points in those four games (85 for Amen, 91 for Belz). With Chris Johnson's disappearing act over the past few weeks, it will take a major return to form vs Indy for the Gmen to pull this one out. Unless something dramatic happens the winner of this game looks to be one and done.

4 v 5 has Krby's Power Rush (2-2, 103.82) vs Smashing Melons (2-2, 89.19). The Power Rush are the league's second highest scoring team for the season but has some dramatic losses, including a 99.5 to 73.24 loss to the Melons (the 3rd highest scoring team in the league) in week 12. The other loss in the past four games was a heartbreaking 116 - 103 loss to the top rated Angry Rangers week 10. The Melons have many favorable match ups and a hot Adrain Petersen this week so look to the Melons to take on the winner of Derf and Neesha.

My picks:
Neesha's Nerds over Derf's Angry Rangers
Smashing Melons over Krby's Power Rush
Belzek's Bombers over Amen Gmen
Friblets over Surcam Stances

the games are not over but so far my picks look:
1 - wrong
2 - can't tell
3 - WRONG (this one is over)
4 - wrong (unless Flacco AND Foster put up 0)

looks like we will have #3 vs #4 for the championship (Amen Gmen vs Krby's Power Rush)

Was fun watching the early games today in the Rush vs Rangers matchup. I was behind all morning until Maclin caught that TD. Was fun to watch.

Championship will be #3 Amen Gmen vs #4 Krby's Power Rush. The Gmen are averaging 117.22 points per playoff game with an average margin of victory of 58.46 (tops in playoffs). The Rush are averaging 133.03 points per game (tops in playoffs) and bring the highest scoring total team (regular season and playoffs) into the championship game. The Gmen have several things going in their favor, they have had the largest blow out win each of the last two weeks, they were written off by this prognosticator before the playoffs, and the Lanys League has a history of the top scoring teams not winning the championship. I look for the favorable match-ups to continue for the Gmen and they take home the big prize.

In the battle for third place money, #1 Derf's Angry Rangers face #7 Surcam's Stances. In the semi final round Derf was topped by Krby 144.82 to 93.48 while Surcam's prayers were not answered vs Amen, losing 133.96 to 76.38. Over the last four games plus playoffs Derf's totals have been trending downward, from 116.48 in week 10 to 93.48 last week and has averaged 93.55 points in the playoffs. Surcam's totals have been fluctuating from a low of 79.20 to a high of 126.06 over the last 4 plus playoffs and averaging 92.89 in the playoffs. In the pre-playoff picks Derf was the favorite to win the whole bracket with his scorching streak going into the playoffs. With the "curse" of that original pick, look for Surcam to rebound this week and take the third place money.

Congrats to everyone on a fun year. I look forward to playing again next year.

Made it to the Super Bowl in my money league for the 2nd year in a row. Pretty amazing feat, considering Aaron Rodgers was hurt and I had to go with Jason Campbell at QB. Here was the lineup I went against:

Rivers, Philip SDC QB
Jackson, Steven STL RB
Turner, Michael ATL RB
Jennings, Greg GBP WR
Owens, Terrell CIN WR
Rice, Sidney MIN WR
Winslow, Kellen TBB TE (he also has Antonio Gates, but he's hurt)
Brown, Josh STL PK
Smith, Justin SFO DE
Urlacher, Brian CHI LB
Griffin, Michael TEN S

And here was my lineup:

Campbell, Jason OAK QB
Forte, Matt CHI RB
Rice, Ray BAL RB
Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR
Garcon, Pierre IND WR
Ochocinco, Chad CIN WR (I benched Brandon Lloyd since Tebow was starting)
Gronkowski, Rob NEP TE
Feely, Jay ARI PK
Abraham, John ATL DE
Farrior, James PIT LB
Landry, Dawan BAL S

On paper, it was an ass beating waiting to happen. But as they say... that's why you play the games! Ray Rice was a beast!

I wish I could say it gets easier this week, but here's who I will be facing in the Super Bowl (first place gets $1900, second place gets $750):

Vick, Michael PHI QB
Jones-Drew, Maurice JAC RB
McFadden, Darren OAK RB
Britt, Kenny TEN WR
Johnson, Calvin DET WR
White, Roddy ATL WR
Daniels, Owen HOU TE
Succop, Ryan KCC PK
Suh, Ndamukong DET DT
Mayo, Jerod NEP LB
Branch, Tyvon OAK S

Here is my lineup at the moment (Rodgers better play):

Rodgers, Aaron GBP QB
Forte, Matt CHI RB
Rice, Ray BAL RB
Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR
Garcon, Pierre IND WR
Lloyd, Brandon DEN WR
Hernandez, Aaron NEP TE
Feely, Jay ARI PK
Suggs, Terrell BAL DE
Farrior, James PIT LB
Landry, Dawan BAL S

I see the team you are facing putting up huge numbers with MJD (vs Washington) and DMac (vs Indy). Vick at home vs a dead Minnesota team could also be a big point maker. You have some tough match ups (Forte vs Jets, Rice vs Cleveland, and a questionable Rogers vs NY Giants). Maybe your WR can carry you as they have favorable match ups. I don't know how well Lloyd will do with Tebow tossing him the ball seeing how he just threw 10 passes last week.

How many people are in that league where one player can have MJD, Roddy White and Calvin Johnson?

12 player auction league ($260 salary cap). This year was weird. We had some really good teams and some really shitty teams. I've been in the same league since 1990 with most of the same people. It's a keeper league where we are able to keep 3 players (or 2 players if you keep 2 RBs). You can keep normal players for 3 years, and you can keep rookies for 4 years, so he has had Calvin Johnson since he was a rookie for $13. He paid $65 for Roddy White and $96 for MJD, so they weren't too cheap. He was also able to snag McFadden for only $3. Getting Vick after week 1 was the big ticket, of course (we do blind bids for free agents as well, and he was high bidder for the dog murderer at $53). Here are the top 10 salaries at our draft:

$113 Andre Johnson (I live in Houston, go figure)
$105 Drew Brees
$105 Peyton Manning
$96 MJD
$95 Michael Turner
$85 Tom Brady
$83 Randy Moss (my guy.. what a great pick he turned out to be)
$82 Steven Jackson
$78 Ryan Matthews

By the way, here are the 2 teams from our Toilet Bowl (the loser has to buy all the beer/pizza at next year's draft):

Losing Team:
Henne, Chad MIA QB
Foster, Arian HOU RB
Green-Ellis, BenJarvus NEP RB
Benn, Arrelious TBB WR
Obomanu, Ben SEA WR
Smith, Steve CAR WR
Lewis, Marcedes JAC TE
Janikowski, Sebastian OAK PK
Mathis, Robert IND DE
Burnett, Kevin SDC LB
Dahl, Craig STL S

Winning Team:
Schaub, Matt HOU QB
Jones, Thomas KCC RB
Williams, Carnell TBB RB
Austin, Miles DAL WR
Bess, Davone MIA WR
Nicks, Hakeem NYG WR
Gresham, Jermaine CIN TE
Akers, David PHI PK
Babin, Jason TEN DE
Briggs, Lance CHI LB

The funny thing is both of those teams scored as much (122 & 155 points) as the guy I beat who had Rivers & Turner (130.5).

That first team is just pathetic (he lost the toilet bowl last year as well, but he won the league the year before).

Here are the top scorers in my league, salaries to the far right. Some salaries are tricky (I got Aaron Rodgers two years ago for a buck, Adrian Peterson was drafted as a rookie when our "rookie keeper" rule allowed rookies to be kept for 5 years instead of 4.. the rule was changed mainly because of him):

Looks like my boys are going to pull it off, unless Vick goes for like 600 yards and 6 TDs tonight. :)

I need a big night from the Philly D and Maclin to have a chance. However, I don't see me getting 19 points more than Celek tonight :(

Congrats to Amen, Krby, and Derf!

Amen - 1st
Krby - 2nd
Derf - 3rd

Next year it sounds like we're making the move to ESPN. Looking forward to it, I always enjoy this league.

Late response, as I don't get on this board as much as I used to, but congrats to the winners! It was a good competitive league again this year, and I enjoyed it.
