Ok, I know something's wrong but I can't find it.

All morning I'm getting certification error messages at sites I visit all the time.
Windows Update tells me my clock settings are incorrect and it can't check for updates.
My clock seems to be correct, btw.

Could these 2 issues be related? Do I have a keylogger that my AV can't find? Any ideas?

make sure that your year is set to 2011 and not something like 2012 or 2013 somehow.

Yup, Vanamar, that was the issue. Is it indicative of a more serious problem? I'm getting paranoid I think.

Not likely.

The certification errors occur are caused by the incorrect date. Certificates are used by websites (and other types of servers) to verify that they are who they say they are and belong to the service you expect. These certifications all have expiration dates. And since many are re-issued each year, that's why having the year wrong on your computer can result in that type of error.

if anyone else uses your computer, someone might have misclicked somewhere. Or there could have been a bug at time.windows.com when your computer last checked the date.

I haven't seen malware yet that changes the date on an infected machine, but it could happen.
