Got a Sony desktop with a bad harddrive.

After running chkdsk and fixing bad sectors, then reinstalling Windows, the drive boots properly. But for obvious reasons, I want to replace the drive.

Problem is, when I do a straight partition copy to a new drive, I get the horrible "hal.dll missing or corrupt" error. The file's there. So is boot.ini, which I hear can also cause that error.

This is driving me crazy, so any useful advice would be appreciated.
