One of my buddies plays online poker. He needs help with the following:

"Trying to play on pokerstars using a proxy. When I go to a proxy site they allow you to search thru them and view other sites but when I go to pstars it acts like it is my first time and they want me to download the app which is already on my drive. What I need to do is go directly thru the proxy server. I know I need to go into connections, LaN settings and enter to isp address and port number but can't find that info."

I can get more information from him as needed, but if anyone has an idea of what he needs with the information I quoted from him I'll send it his way and see if that helps him out. Thanks!

I don't know anything about PokerStars, but from what you're saying and what I've been able to find on their site, I just don't see how that setup could work.

The only thing I can think of that might help is to stop using the proxy website and look for some kind of public proxy server instead.

That said, your friend needs to recognize the security implications of doing all of this.

Also, PokerStars doesn't like it when people play through proxies, just FYI.

There are private proxies available, but to be perfectly blunt, unless you're in the know already, you're effectively fucked. The ones that go unnoticed (or are unofficially recognized for pro use) are VERY tightly guarded.
