So I can't figure out my friend's problem via google, but I feel like the answer is simple. When he adds a NETGEAR WNR2000 router to the cable modem he is unable to download and install anything across computer, ps3, and xbox360. If he takes out the router, it works.

I've tried static ips and port forwarding, shutting off antivirus and windows firewall, and a number of other things I googled. I've also taken my NETGEAR WNR3500 router, which works fine at my apt, to his house and it doesn't work either. If he brings his ps3 or xbox360 to my house, it downloads and installs no problem through my router.

I'll add I haven't had a chance yet to personally confirm it works without router, but this is what I'm told now. I've got no clue here, and he's doing a fine job of making it my problem. Thanks for any help.

MAC Address Clone is probably your friend, or he can call his cable company and have them update his account with the MAC address of the modem.

Are you using the router uplink slot? Try a downlink slot, it should put it into a pass-through mode.
