If you are running Vista on one of your computers for some strange reason like being locked into it on a new laptop purchase like I was, I'd highly suggest you upgrade to SP2. Before upgrading to SP2 I had 28.8GB free on my C: drive. Afterwards I had 42GB free. I have no idea how it is possible and Microsoft hasn't released any official word on it, simply saying "SP2 cleans up some unnecessary cache", but 14GB worth? Woah.

It flushed the SP1 cache. Just don't use vlite with it anymore. What a bloated piece of dogshit THAT app has become /sigh.

Considering I contributed some implementation code to Nuhi for this application I'm qualified to comment on its current state ;P Do me a favor. Take an integrated SP1 disc, and modify it with vlite and ANY update pack or, if you're so inclined, customize it in ANY fashion. Burn an ISO, install it, and attempt to install SP2.

When you fail, I'll link you the MS KB article detailing why. There's way too much garbage there. nLite on the other hand I'm a huge fan of.

Oh I agree, but I have some software on this laptop that is annoying as shit to get reactivated and I'd rather just keep going with Vista for the time being.

Elessar I read a few articles and noticed the cache reduction. Some people have gained back like 130GB of hd space. That's a lot of cache. I wonder if it will improve hard drive performance at all similar to the gains seen in 7.

I went from 260 gig free to 325 gig free after installing SP2 on Vista Ultimate.

I wasn't disagreeing! Just that something called "lite" being "bloated" was amusing!

Ahh, my bad. This is where text doesn't carry context well heh. Yeah, I do find it pretty amusing, especially with how many people still swear by it.

I only have 7 installed on my laptop, so I haven't tried it, but the latest build is supposed to work w/ 7.
