Recently I had downloaded the Live Update from MSI to update my BIOS, after the install the computer rebooted and will not boot, period.

Wish I could tell you what motherboard I have, but I know nothing without the computer being on... posting from my laptop trying my google-fu on how to reset my CMOS.. Thus far is not working too well.. Never done this sort of thing before. :/

Never update the BIOS from Windows... Ok it's a bit late for that. Unless you can find out the exact model of the motherboard then we can't help.

MSI K9N4 SLI-F Socket AM2 ATX Motherboard MS-7325-010 is what I'm pulling the model of off their website.

Edit: Removed motherboard battery as I found on the MSI website... Hopefully this resets the CMOS as they say.

Edit2: No dice.

I wonder if this applies to asus boards. Their bios app is run and installed through windows. AFUDOS or some crap like that.

You can flash the BIOS for almost any board in Windows now, though it's never a good practice. Too much relies on making sure it works 100% the first time. I have an ASUS board and I use ASUS EZFlash from the BIOS when booting up.

Is there any particular area where I could find the JBAT pins? I'm having difficulty locating it on the board itself.. I've currently got the computer's guts pulled out and looking to make this last ditch before just breaking down and buying a new motherboard altogether.

If you have another pc with the same system board, you can borrow a buddy's EEPROM writer and copy the BIOS chip to the one that got wiped.

Since most people don't have buddies with EEPROM writers though, you might just want to order a replacement BIOS chip. You can get these pretty cheap usually.

There's bound to be a clear-CMOS jumper on that board, I seem to remember all my MSI boards having them.

Where they are is another story. Manual FTW!

Clear CMOS isn't going to work if it was a bad flash. The BIOS is most likely...toast.

Yup.. BIOS is toast. My board didn't have a JBAT pin.. Actually had a CMOS clear button.. found it after finally locating my manual.

I'm in the market for a new motherboard now.. Any recommendations? Need a AM2/AM2+ socket
