My history of exploding monitors (and terrible receipt-retention) re-asserts itself, and I need another replacement.

I'm looking for an all-around 20-24" monitor. I don't need super accurate colors or insane viewing angles. I do need speedy response times as I'm particularly sensitive to ghosting. My old monitor had a 4ms response which I had no problems with.

Any suggestions? Probably don't want to spend more than $500 (and the lower the better, of course).

I bought this, and it's due here Friday. Being American you will find it even cheaper on newegg:

I'll tell you what I think when it arrives.

I got one of these about 2 weeks ago for one of the offices here.

24" 2ms, HDMI, DVI, VGA, 2000:1, 1920x1200, 16:10, 400nits. Can't beat it for $249 bucks. Thinking about buying a couple more.

Thanks for all the recommendations. But LG decided to honor my warranty despite lack of proof of purchase.

They were out of stock on my model, though, so they sent me an L227WTG. I think I lucked out: it seems like a really nice monitor, especially considering the price.

This is my dumb question of the month-

When it says it is a 23" screen, they are referring to the diagonal of the screen (upper left to lower right) and not left to right width... correct? My width on my desk under my hutch is only 22" long, so I believe if it is diagonal it should fit... if not, then no can do.

Yes the diagonal length is the measure they use.

I'd be shocked if any website for any monitor did not have the height, width and depth of the screen though, should be easy to find.

Which is a better monitor, the one Neesha linked, or this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824001314

I know Samsung is a bigger name, but are their monitors better than Acer's?

Thanks.

I found an even cheaper (and faster) source for that monitor:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8049006792

If it's a steal at $209, what is it at 197.99? :o

Thanks for your help, Givin.

Nice. Just ordered two more. Thanks for linking that.

Really I guess the question to ask would be if 1920 x 1080 is what you're ok with resolution. For me it's perfect.

The Samsung also didn't have an HDMI input, if that matters to you. The Acer does.

The resolution is fine with me. I've used a 19" LG for the last 2.5 years, which is a good monitor; I just wanted a bigger one for a biger and better picture, and to (hopefully) reduce eyestrain.

I noticed the Samsung lacks the HDMI input, which was one reason I hesitated about buying it (along with a 1-yr. warranty vs. a 3-yr. for the Acer). On the other hand, I'd heard Samsung makes the best flat panels. I'll probably go with the Acer, though, because of the price and the variety of inputs.

And you're very welcome for the link.

EDIT: I stopped at Best Buy on the way home and picked up an Acer. I just hooked it up. OMFG, it's HUGE!!!!! I noticed a fair amount of light leakage around the edges, which I did't notice on my LG. Is this a normal thing? And will it affect picture quality?

They are two different models, I'm not seeing any difference in specs tho. The stand is different. Both are probably about as equally flimsy as shit.

H233Hbmid is $209

X233Hbid is $179

Oh i see. the 179 has no built in speakers, and the other has the built in touch screen settings.
