I was just curious about something and was hoping one of you might know the answer. I have some Logitech z-5300 speakers I bought a couple years back and they say they are 280 watt - here are the specs

Quote:

* Total RMS power: 280 watts RMS
o Satellites 180 Watts RMS (2 x 35.25W front, 2 x 35.25W rear, 39W center)

o 2 Channel (stereo)
o 4 Channel
o 5.1 Channel

Here is my question:
How much electricity do these use when no sound is going through them, but they are on. Am I using 280w whenever the power is on, or is that just when they are cranked up full blast? Or neither?

I have started turning them off more and more, but how much difference does it make anyway?

it depends on the level at which they're playing. kind of like car stereos. some are 4x25 or whatever but they're not expending that power at a constant rate. also, think of subwoofers in cars. they are rated at 800 but that's their PEAK. etc.

so just leaving the speakers on, I wonder how many watts the subwoofer eats.

Let's be fair. Prostitutes are always a good idea.
