I managed to get my PC infected with spy sherrif, and I've cleaned it up except for this one annoyance. < > < > < > I found some instructions to make icons transparent which said to go to control panel/system properties/advanced/performance options/visual effects and turn on the "use drop shodows for icon labels on the desktop" option. That was already turned on so I tried turning it off apply then turning it back on and applying, but that didn't fix it. Oh yeah, this is XP pro btw. < > < > One thing I'm pretty sure I don't remember being there before under control panel/display/desktop is a color selection pull down bar just below where you set your wallpaper to center, stretch, or tile. Changing that color changes the color behind the icon text, and the area around the icon which used to be transparent, but there doesn't appear to be a no color or transparent option.
