Post subject: Thunderbird or Mail?

Right now I'm just using Mail after switching front MS Entourage. I didn't really have a real impetus, just felt like using the Mac product.<

I use Firefox religously and seeing the Thunderbird icon in the extensions webpage finally has tempted me.<

I manage 3 different POP3 mail accounts, and Mail does it pretty good job. Is there anything that Thunderbird really stands out in? I know it's free, so that's also a big plus.<

Anyone have lots of experience with Thunderbird, and for bonus points a comparison between Mail and Thunderbird?

I'm using Thunderbird in Tiger. Mail is OK, but I was having a lot of difficulty importing my mail from Tbird to Mail, in that it would only get about 25% of my mail and called it complete. I gave up trying to figure that one out and went back to the old familiar Tbird.

If anything, I've been using Tbird for about 2 years, and I've always liked it. There's probably one out there, just haven't looked, but one thing I didn't find in my minimal searching, was a widget that would tell me my new mail count for Tbird, but obviously Mail.app has multiple widgets to choose from.

Thunderbird is the single best non-enterprise mail client that exists. Prophion<

There are no third party plugins for any mail client i know (except for Evolution, and that involves OWA) that connect to exchange. Prophion<

Mail.app can connect to Exchange servers just fine, via IMAP.

Most exchange admins I know disable IMAP/POP on their exchange servers. Prophion<

I'm not looking for something that just does mail. We need calendaring capabilities, LDAP lookup, everything that can be done with Exchange. - Leo

Until MS opens up the exchange protocol, then no. Prophion<

Oh well. Anyone know if the bug where Photoshop crashes when you paste formatted text from Entourage is a feature of CS2? - Leo
