Haha, this is fun.

Course, I blasted through like 15 of them thinking I was really clever and then decided to click on the forums. Some of the stuff people do with them is amazing. Simply solving the problems is the easy bit. heh.

For example, without looking at any solutions, see how many you can solve without using any motorized wheels. The guy who solved "Tube" is a goddamned genius! haha.

Sweet. My solution on that one was not nearly as elegant, to say the least. :D

I sort of got stuck in a rut making vehicles and I wanted to work on some catapult style solutions. This is my first go. Simple, but reasonably effective. This is the best time waster I've played with in ages.

Haha, pure whimsy... I was looking at this board and thinking I wanted to jump a car over the blocks. Not an elegant design but it makes me grin when I run it.

Wanted to try to get one that would stay in the goal area(an added challenge I read on the forums) and got inspired.

I've been working at each one with the "minimum pieces" challenge.

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=125298

These two work for the "mark stops in goal" challenge as well as minimum pieces:

Heh, I'm addicted to this game... I actually started a new challenge on their boards while fiddling with it. The objective is to put the ball back in the workshop after completing the objective. I got the idea from the champion thread when someone said they thought any "Big Ball" solution would be a champion solution by default.

So... http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=120615

and http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=128981 which I'm quite proud of. heh

A mind boggling amount of tweaking went into this one. Simple in concept, very frustrating in execution. heh. Either the ball wouldn't hit the goal, it wouldn't winch back up, or one time I got both but then it rolled back out of the workshop.

Doesn't look like much, but I had to post it!

That was pretty damn fun. I did all those public ones. My favorite was the one with the mass of balls coming downhill. I made a burrower car (reverse wheels on the front to plow through em).

Very fun.

Hah... I'm starting to see more and more people post stuff like that.

What's making it wig out and rapidly increase speed? Is it some kinda bug in the coding? There's one in the "Tube" player submissions called "Firework" where the same kinda thing happens and a piece just rockets off the screen.

I can't figure out how to replicate it because most of the ones that do it have so many pieces on the screen that you can't tell what goes where.

It seems to mostly happen when you put rods around a wheel and bind it so it can't really turn. I don't know exactly because I never tried to replicate it.

HAHAHA what's so true about that is that it looks so horrific...then works beautifully...then appears to go terribly wrong and practically explode and STILL hits goal.

I dont even want to start this game, it looks too addicting, but i am loving the forums...

This was posted in the 'Hilarious failures' thread... It looks so promising, and fails so horribly, right at the end!

Fantastic Contraption 2 is in some sort of preview. Only those who purchased FC1 can play, as far as I can tell.

Yeah, I got an email a little while ago. I played the new version a little bit. It's essentially a cleaned up version of the first one, with a couple of new features. There's a chain tool now, which you could do before, but saves you a bunch of clicking. There's magnets now too, which I don't really see a whole lot of use for yet. I solved maybe 20 or so levels and never had occasion to use them.

Basically, if you liked the first one, this one has a bunch of new levels for you to play. Nothing really new, but as much as I played it the first time around, I could see it killing an hour or two for me.
