The premiere of Falling Skies was last night. Did anyone watch it? I thought it was pretty good, although there were a few parts I didn't really care for. My main gripe was actually not with the show, but with the "YOU ARE WATCHING THE WORLD PREMIERE OF FALLING SKIES WITH LIMITED COMMERCIAL INTERRUPTIONS COURTESY OF (a car that I can't remember, nice work ad men)" that went on before every single commercial.

I thought that one two-hour episode was better than every episode of V and/or The Event, so that's a good start. I'll definitely stick around and see what happens. It was good to see Noah Wyle again. I always liked him on ER.

I watched the premier of V and The Event and thought they both sucked so I didn't watch any more. If anything is being related to those two shows I wouldn't watch them.

All 3 shows have aliens. That's about the only thing similar between them.

As usual, the YouTube trolls all hated it.

We watched it last night. I don't really know what to think. There's a lot of sentimental dreck in there that worked better for me in Super 8 than it does in the tv format. I thought we'd at least get a LITTLE bit of the alien invasion rather than just cutting right to the occupation months down the road. It wasn't bad....I just didn't get gripped into the story. I'll probably give it 5 episodes to see if it can snag me.

I watched the latest episode and sadly, the show just isn't that good. I want to like it, but some of the goings-on are just plain stupid. Spoilers ahead...

For starters, I hate the idea of "good humans" vs. "evil humans". If we were really fighting for our survival against an alien race, I'd like to think that we'd work together. I could understand a few bad apples (people are assholes, let's face it), but the gang of "evil humans" led by Pope in the first episode is just retarded. They aren't lunatics who escaped from prison, they are just some bad dudes.

Fast forward to when Pope finally becomes a part of the new group of "good humans." He starts to become a chef, then he has to go show them where this motorcycle shop is, then he escapes? Really? He'd rather go at it alone than join the resistance? That doesn't make any logical sense.

Then there's the whole storyline with Noah Wyle and his missing (harnessed) kid. Let me get this straight. Every time they were able to remove a harness from a kid in the past, that kid died. So what is the plan? Go rescue Noah Wyle's kid and let him be the guinea pig! If they were really going to do something like this, wouldn't it make more sense to rescue a kid with no ties to anyone and experiment on him, as cruel as that sounds?

Let's not forget what happened when they actually went to rescue the kid. The black dude saw his kid and promptly started yelling at him, causing a firefight where all hell broke loose and lives were almost lost/people were taken hostage. Seriously? Would you just say 'don't worry about it, it's cool!' after something like that happened?

Anyway, I could go on and on, but the simple fact is the show could be much better than it is. I'll probably watch another episode, but at this point, I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The aliens communicating through the harnessed kids is just another example of pretty bad writing. I had hoped for something original and it is ending up being something very predictable. Damn shame.

It reminds me of that one TV Show where the people were sent to a new "earth" for colonization.

We dropped it after the 3rd episode. There's nothing redeeming there.

I'm glad I stuck with it.. the show got much better in the second half. Some of the new twists, with the new type of alien and the evolution/mystery of what the skitters are was also pretty interesting. I dig it now.

I can't stand shows where people do not behave or act in a normal way. Examples have already been given but it's as if the writers are socially retarded and do not understand people at all. The entire story doesn't make much sense and the plot holes are so enormous it is impossible to enjoy. It isn't a sci-fi show, it's a soap opera with aliens in it.
