Fucking awesome that a network didn't get a chance to fuck this one up. Another hit for AMC to sit next to Mad Men and Breaking Bad on the shelf.

I just finished reading the comics from start to current after watching the pilot. The TV show is letting them get a lot more in depth on story, for sure. They didn't seem to shy away from the violence rampant in the comics, but I have to wonder how certain scenes/story arcs are going to make it into the show...even with a cable network. The pilot was amazing though, so I'm on board for the ride.

Watched the season finale last night, was very good. However I just found out after doing some poking around that they don't anticipated the release of the second season until October, 2011!

With the six episodes behind me, it seems like this is potentially an excellent replacement for Lost with a few shared elements.

Seems like you have a perfect chance to catch up on the comics, if you have not already...

Was thinking about that actually, but I had the weird idea that it would spoil the show which admittedly sounds a bit backwards..

They were some significant differences from about episode 2. However, they deviated from the comic books entirely about episode 5. 6 was not anything that was ever in the books.

So either they were using a convenient plot device to tie up the end of the 6 episodes because they didn't know if they'd get picked up or they have decided to tell a new version of the story to keep it fresh even for fans of the books. Personally, I think it is probably the former, but we'll see.

The writer of the comics specifically said he wanted the show to have some different plot points to keep his readers on their toes.

As a resident of the Atlanta area I have had some trouble suspending my disbelief about certain locations they've visited that I'm familiar with.

The fact that they used a performing arts center as the "CDC" was amusing to me.

thought the CDC was in Vermont, not Atlanta unless they are regionally based, and therefore my statement makes me an idiot =)

CDC is headquartered in Atlanta. There are CDC labs/offices all over the country, but it's based here. =P

guess I relied on movie information too much !!

In Stephen King's The Stand they had CDC in Vermont or I coulda swore they said natl HQ but idk, same for I am Legend, thought they had CDC HQ in Vermont....
