Any new shows worth a crap this year?

I tried to watch The Event and it seems meh right now (too much suspension of reality and shake camera already)

The Chase was ok, I don't think that it will be must see.

I wonder if Blue Bloods will be any good.

I liked The Event enough to watch it again. Running Wilde was pretty funny, although I think critics will probably hate it and it will get cancelled. It's made from the guys who made Arrested Development, so if you liked one you'll probably like the other. The best show I've seen so far is Boardwalk Empire (on HBO). It has the potential to be great. I've heard pretty good things about Hawaii Five-0, but I don't think I'll watch that. I also DVR'd Detroit 1-8-7, so I am hoping it is good. Then again, I kind of hope it sucks since I already DVR too much crap as it is. I almost don't have any time for new shows, considering there's still the old favorites like Dexter, The Office, Modern Family, Big Bang, Castle, etc. I just got Civilization V yesterday and Black Ops comes out in November. I think it's safe to say that I need more hours in the day.

Which one was Running Wilde? Was it the one with the hippie and the really rich selfish guy? I did like that one if so.

I liked Outlaw on Monday... I'll try to catch it again. I also enjoyed Hawaii Five-0.

I've really been getting into Parenthood lately... it's very enjoyable and touching too!

Yes, it was the one with Will Arnett and Keri Russell where he was the rich dude.

I watched Blue Bloods and thought it was pretty decent. I'll watch the 2nd episode to see if it seems to have any staying power. Also watched Detroit 1-8-7 and overall, the show was pretty forgettable, but the last 2 minutes were good enough for me to give it a second chance as well.

I DVR'd @%#^@% My Dad Says and tried to watch it, but couldn't get past the first 5 minutes. The laugh track ruined any chance the show had. I also DVR'd Hawaii Five-0 but bad weather knocked out my satellite for a few mins, so I used that as an excuse to delete it, rather than watch it.

Dexter tonight!

Blue Bloods was good enough to watch the next episode. Have Hawaii five-O on the DVR to watch.

Hawaii Five-O was good. We'll probably stick with that.

Outsourced wasn't bad. Raising Hope was ok, will give it a few more shots. My wife was appalled when I said I'd totally fuck Martha Plimpton... the Goonies, nuff said.

Doubt you could pay me to watch Outsourced.

Well, you probably could. But since nobody will pay me to watch it, there's no way I'd watch it.

I disagree. The first episode didn't have tons of action, but the tone it set for the season (and the previews for the season) has me very excited. And the scene in the gas station bathroom? Priceless.

the gas station bathroom scene was, indeed, priceless.

I just think they're setting up Quinn to attempt to be Doakes 2.0 / Doakes Lite, and that pisses me off, because I kinda like Quinn and would like to see him get on Dexter's good side

I have never really been a Quinn fan. I guess part of that is because they set him up to be a dirty cop but then never ran with the story. So his character bugs me.

there's a lot of plotlines they've left dangling in the wind in the past, it didn't surprise me that they just put quinn being dirty on the back burner

Actually Van, I think Outsourced is fucking hilarious - you might enjoy it.

But I'm just waiting for The Walking MOTHERFUCKING Dead.

I was soured on Quinn from the beginning because he's always been kinda shady, but not shady in a way like Dexter. (Dexter does bad shit, we look past it -- Quinn does bad shit, it sticks out like a sore thumb.)

I agree w/ Neesha, last night's episode was incredible. Really set up the season.

The only concern I have:

When Quinn was in the supermarket showing Trinity's son a picture and asking if he knew who "Kyle Butler" was -- who cares? How would they connect Kyle Butler to Trinity's death? The only thing they'll know is that Dexter (knowingly or not) got acquainted with Trinity. Perhaps Dexter will say he was trying to find God and make his life right, or something. I just don't see the big deal w/ them finding out Dexter knows Trinity -- unless they can prove Dexter knew Trinity was really Trinity.

PS:
Deb it a ho. Banging Quinn in the house Rita was just murdered in? Come on.

Well, I'd assume they would be investigating "Kyle Butler" as the Trinity killer. The cops don't know that Trinity is dead so there's no reason to stop looking for him. My guess is the kid will play dumb and not point the finger at Dexter as Kyle since his life is better without dear old daddy around.

ps: It still sort of weirds me out that Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall are married IRL.

Re: investigation theory -- makes complete sense. You may be on to something. The downfall to that:

Could it perhaps link Dexter to every other crime he has done somehow? Maybe they find out he's not the Trinity killer, but that he was who he really was -- a serial killer who kills serial killers. (After they find out really who Trinity was, that is.) Is this the last season? Could it be Dexter's downfall? It's only S5. I can see them milking this series a while since ratings are higher then ever.

That's why we'll never see her nude, I fear.

I haven't heard anything about this being the last season.

I don't think they would even suspect him of anything since his previous murders have been pinned on others, for the most part, so there really wouldn't be much to connect him to other than the Trinity killings as Kyle Butler. I think it's just going to be a cat and mouse game at this point, which was the biggest charm the show had in my mind. Dexter was always one step ahead. Maybe this season the Trinity killer's wife will go to the police saying her preacher husband is missing and he was last seen with Kyle Butler. That will lead to the drawings of Kyle Butler, that will make Quinn even more suspicious of Dexter since he looks like the police sketch, and Rita suddenly died, etc. That makes the most sense to me.

Or maybe he'll go to jail for manslaughter for the dude in the bathroom. He had a pretty messy crime scene after that one. :P

Re: Bathroom

It was pretty weird how he just got up and walked away. He had his tools, so I guess he may have cleaned up, but it totally left the mind to decide... since there was no exact clean-up about it.

Watched Hawaii Five-0. Will keep recording it. Seems like a decent show so far.

I have zero desire to watch Outsourced, Mike and Molly and I don't have Showtime/HBO to watch Dexter or the new Gangster show
