I've become mashup obsessed lately. I've been downloading huge amounts of "the best of" lists from various sites and going through them. Below is some of my favorites. While there are some really, really horrible mashups out there, when they are done right? They are pure genius.

For those of you unaware of Mashups, this is the practice of blending two (or more) songs together to create something new-ish.

Here's some of examples of what I mean...a handful of mashups from my favorites.

Beethoven + Kanye West? Pure Genius. A plus D's "Beethoven's Fifth Gold Digger":

Britney Spears + Sisters of Mercy? "If You Seek Lucretia" is another fave.
Can't figure out how to get the vimeo video embedded, so just giving the link:
http://vimeo.com/4688644

R. Kelly and Broken Social Scene combine to give new life to the party."R Kelly vs Broken Social Scene - I'm a Flirt 7/4 Shoreline" :

And from the same people that gave us Beethoven's Gold digger, they also did another one that is creeping its way up my favorite lists:

No video on this one, just a link to listen online or download the MP3....
Lily Allen + Massive Attack = strangely cool

Norwegian Recycling's "How 6 Songs Collide" is a pretty amazingly seamless blend of more than 2 songs:

as is his "9 Songs To Save The World". You can still find it here with someone's "anime" video for it here. I'm just fascinated how he blends so many different songs together.

There's a LOT more. These are just a handful of my favorites. Enjoy.

Any other mashup fans out there with favorites to share?

It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake!

I can say that to any one of my friends and it immediately gets the song stuck in their head. LOL

Cuch: I have that one on a "mix-cd" in the car. It gets the strangest reactions from my friends as I am driving places.
