Watched the first 4 hours of 24 and have to say that it's just about done for me. After the 3rd or 4th season, it certainly was rehashing some plot lines, but I felt each time they had at least a decent spin. For example, last year was a pretty big rehash, but involving the FBI and such, I enjoyed.

But so far, this season feels like a hack job thrown together. There just hasn't been anything new or interesting for me. The show really needs to go a completely different direction or something.

I think next season should be the last and they should just go nuts. Make the underlying threat be aliens and have it turn out that Jack is from a parallel dimension or something. Just go completely off the deep end and piss off all the faithful.

I thought I had read the opposite, that Season 9 had already been ordered. Either way, I watched the first hour of this season and don't care. I'll still watch it faithfully, but there's not much to give a crap about.

Just finished last night's episode, and this season really freaking sucks. I am now trapped in that "I've watched this much, I might as well finish" mode.

Fuck.

The dialog is so bad. The Russian guy killing his son and telling his other son he loves them. Jack and Renee falling in love. The horrible cliched Russian. The painful acting on the overacting leader of "unnamed Muslim country" or whatever. The whole blackmail subplot.

Shit. I hate myself for not being man enough to stop wathcing.

and what the hell is the deal with the blonde at CTU? How was she even hired? I am so ready for that line to end

Oh yeah, she has the highest security clearance available and nobody noticed she was a teen felon now using an alias. Could the hillbilly boyfriend be any worse?

Oh yeah, nuclear arms are on the loose in NY and nobody really notices that she's scuffling off to kill her ex-lover/co-killer.

I'm just waiting for Jack's grandkid and daughter to get captured.

Rumor is floating that 24 is getting cancelled.

I just watched Monday's episode tonight, and it was pretty much as suck-tastic as I expected. The lover of that generic-Arab-leader is actually the evil mastermind!?? No---- didn't see that coming.

Rumor is confirmed - 24 is done.

Man, and not a minute too soon. This season is so fucking awful it hurts. WHy am I watching? Let's see - Jack takes out an entire team of elite commandos, the top ranking general decides to ignore the president, but is caught only to have a heart attack save his ass... oh and CSU doesn't do enough background checks to realize it has yet another white-trash/mole/assassin working for it.

Lordy.

Ok, I'm officially having a thread with myself.

I am so sick of Jack's life being total shit. I mean seriously, do you have to kill every bitch he humps?

hmm, last season of 24... Another of Jack's bedroom conquests dies/goes crazy...one psychobitch alive... oooh Dana (or whatever her name is) is going to get a BEATING!

Look at this timeline:
around 9:00pm Rene is getting it from Vladimir Laitanan.
around 10:30pm Rene stabs Jack in the gut
around 11:00pm Jack is being tortured by the Ruskies
around 5:00am Jack is shot in the shoulder and suffers a broken rib by being shot while wearing a protective vest
around 6:30am Jack is clubbed in the head by President Elvis
around 7:30am they learn that President Elvis has been murdered
around 8:15am Jack and Rene are sharing a passionate moment
by 9:00am Rene is dead.

IMO finale was not as good as the previous few episodes.

This season was simply awful, and it was sadly time to end. Too bad it didn't end last season with him dying. After about the first 16 hours of crap, it did get good for a little while when Jack went off the deep end and was sorta on the wrong side. I would say there were 4-6 decent hours in there. And yeah, Darth Bauer was certainly the peak of the season, followed up by the bloody room of the Russian delegate. That was so awesome - we didn't need to see him slaughter people.... loved it.

However, the wrap-up could not have been much worse. Basically, Jack lost and one of the bad guys had a crisis of conscience. Seriously... for all these years, Jack is #1 bad ass, and in the end is saved by the mercy of a antagonist? Weak. And Logan getting burned by a bug... again? Weak.

Why not let Jack kill the Soviet president? Let him completely go past the point of no return and then have the movie be about him trying to avert the nuclear holocaust he set in motion.

What a sad way for the series to wimper out.
