Simon Cowell Says He Is Leaving 'American Idol'

Simon Cowell has officially announced that this is his final season of "American Idol."

I can only HOPE that this is the last season for this show.

Why would you care if it's the last season of the show? Don't you hate it?

I like American Idol, at least the early episodes. When they start doing the voting, I don't care about it much. The early auditions are fun to watch.

You hate it, but you watch it? That's kinda like sleeping with a girl in the middle of a Herpes outbreak.

I love the show. I also love So you think you can dance. But I don't consider it reality TV so much as a competition. It's not like they spend 30 minutes focusing on drama between contestants. It's all about the singing. It's hard to understand peoples' animosity for it. The show has interesting people, many of whom you can relate to, and also has a lot of good celebrity judges from time to time. /shrug

I love the auditions, but not for the reasons most of my friends do. My friends like watching the horribly bad singers. I love watching the moment when someone, who has no idea how talented they might actually be, get recognized. The voting and whatnot...eh. So I tend to watch the auditions zealously and if a contestant or two catches my interest, I follow as long as they are in the show.

YEah. I get jaded by the time it narrows down to 5-6 people. I like the early voting period but then it starts to drag.

I still don't understand why people have to complain about it (or any other show). If you don't like it, don't watch it. Surely, in this day and age, you can find something else to watch.

Yeah, I like Idol when it's in the hands of the judges. Once they pass off responsibility to the viewing public, I tune out.

The method So you think you can dance uses is much better. Let the public vote for the bottom 3 and the judges decide who has to go after a dance-off. It's so good that they should keep it for the entire show, but they abandon it once the field narrows. I feel the same way about Idol, something like that would be great.

Idol sort of had the right idea when they introduced the veto thing last year. In a nutshell, if the viewers voted someone off, the judges could veto the vote and save that person (but the following week, they'd eliminate 2 people). It wasn't perfect, but it was a step in the right direction.

I don't watch it. It is all the surrounding crap about it that is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

- All the ads about the greatest show on television
- All the tards spending hours upon hours talking about the idiot they saw on AI the prior night
- the steady migration to "Ow my balls"
