Good lord the last episode left me hanging. What the hell is that weird lady trying to do with Eggs and Tara? Is she that thing that attacked Sookie? The end of the last episode would make it seem so. Why is the church trying to kidnap Sookie? And is that why they're so interested in her brother? So many questions! Can't wait for some answers.

Very happy to see the best character from season 1 back in the mix. Lafayette has been on bitch mode for too long. :)

And every time I start to feel good about myself in the gym I see a bastard like Eggs that puts me to shame. /sigh

heh, I'd normally say "read the books and you'll figure it out", but they've diverged so far from the books it's kinda crazy =/

I really dislike the actors/characters... I don't know why we keep watching.

Sookie says, "Bill Compton..."

Bill says, "Sookie..."

Sookie says, "Ooooh, Bill Compton..."

Bill says, "But Sookie....."

Sookie shouts, "Bill Compton!"

There, now you know S2E5.

Season 2 is a step up from season 1 and I really liked season 1.

Tara and Lafayette remain the primary reason I watch the show. Although seeing what the nymph/witch chick is up to is now a pretty good reason...

I'm definitely not a big fan of Bill/Sookie, and their vamp porn scenes suck. But the world it's set in is highly interesting to me, and Lafayette is cool as hell. Plus all the questions, I must know!

I've been making fun of the way Bill says Sookie since the start though.

Sookie!!!!

have you read the books at all, surcam?

You'd begin to hate the series if you did.

Well, if you like Lafayette you might not like the books so much. :P

Well, Lafayette in the books was a throwaway character that wasn't flesh out at all...

I like the books, and I like the show. Although I disagree with Rugen...Tara bugs the crap outta me. Such a whiner!

And I hope they don't diverge from the book regarding Sookie's love life.

I don't disagree. They've definitely weakened her character. But I expect the fiesty firecracker from behind the bar to come back with a vengeance once she realizes she's been used.

I keep trying to figure out what bothers me so much about the show.. I think it is just too .. erm.. "dramatic". Like everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is a big fucking deal. Things that really shouldn't be.

Also, yeah, the acting... man. And the Sookie character is just a horrible self-absorbed person and I find it hard to believe someone as supposedly "deep" as Bill Compton could find anything in common with her.

I, like many of you, are probably dieing to hear the rest of Bill Compton's creation story. Lotta potential there.

My list of most annoying characters, in order are:

1. Sookie
2. Tara
3. Bill Compton
4. Sookie's Brother

I can tolerate the rest, and even enjoy many of the others. I want to know more about Eric, for example.

Sookie though.. fuck, she just talks too goddamn much.

Anyone else notice that a lot of the terms/ideas used in the series seem to be taken directly from White Wolf sourcebooks?

ugh, no, they're not. just because white wolf codified a bunch of vampire myths into a set of rules doesn't mean that white wolf was in any way original.

You're absolutely wrong on that score. While WW did "codify" a great many existing myths, they created a great many ideas that have since been used by various movies and books. The idea of large vampiric societies, city rulers, etc. were generally created by WW. There are many other, less obvious creations of theirs that have been introduced in various media over the past 15 years, to the point that we've nearly accepted them as part of the original myths. They aren't.

Hell, the Underworld movies so heavily ripped off White Wolf themes that Sony was sued and ultimately settled. While it's been less blatant in other movies and shows, it's still present. Every time I hear Eric mention his role as Sheriff it immediately brings to mind the World of Darkness.

Now, I'm not a big White Wolf fan. I dropped my Cam membership a few months back because the company was, frankly, being a bunch of cocksuckers. But you can't deny that their work is influencing modern vampire stories.

There was a lot of stuff in the WW vampire book I had never heard of before - course I was pretty young when I read it.

Vampire the Masquerade was a pretty enjoyable PC game, btw.. buggy - but enjoyable.

The cheesy bullshit that is Sookie/Bill's love affair is so painful to watch. Latest episode was especially bad.

The Eric backstory was fucking cool though. And my homie Lafayette is back to work!
