What have you all been seeing out there that is decent?

So far, I've watched the first three episodes of the sitcom "Better Off Ted," and the first episode and a half of "Parks and Recreation."

Better Off Ted - eh. I want to like it more than I do, mainly of love for Portia DiRossi. The only characters I find remotely interesting are Ted, Portia's character, and the blonde romantic interest. I like the Veridien Dynamics ads that lead off each episode. But, really, the humor is kind of tired.

Parks and Recreation - Wow, this is painful. *Love* Amy Poehler on SNL (especially Weekend Update), but I ended up turning off the second episode about 15 minutes in and deleting it off the TiVO. I barely laughed at all in the first episode. With the ability to draw off of resources from The Office, 30 Rock, and SNL, I expected a lot more. Maybe Poehler is just better at sketch comedy.

Honestly, Poehler is horrible at anything that's NOT weekend update. Saturday's SNL episode was a "best of amy poehler" clip show, and honestly, the non-weekend update skits were at best cringe-worthy.

Anything she's been in outside of SNL has been horrific.

Southland has been all right so far. I don't know if it can stand up long term, it's like a really toned down and kind of gay version of the Shield.

The Unusuals is mostly bad. It's completely inconsistent and each different cop seems like they belong on their own show. The whole thing just doesn't come together as a fully fledged, coherent story.

Parks and Recreation was terrible. Poehler isn't really the problem. I couldn't stand the fake documentary thing with the Office, and this show does it worse with a worse premise and a much worse supporting cast.

haha southland tales is so bad, but it's really not any worse than this season of 24, it just doesn't have the goodwill of 4 good seasons over 6 years built up

I like Castle but I don't think it's a mid-season replacement either.

Is Castle any good? I dunno. The plots each week are a little simple, but I think Nathan Fillion is awesome and the chick in the show (Stana Katic) has the best smile on TV. I'd say watch the pilot and see if it catches your interest. His character is great (he plays an author, not a cop).

I'm waiting for them to air the unseen episodes of Eli Stone. I think there are four of them.

Eli Stone was a great show. I wish it had done a little better.

Better Off Ted is actually growing on me a little bit. I'm not totally sure why, aside from the boss lady, who I like, but I find myself enjoying it even though it seems mainly aimless and random.

The remaining Eli Stone episodes were aired on scifi, somewhere. I only know this because they showed up on a TV BT site.

Castle is funny. I really like it.

The Bob Saget show, on the other hand, sucks. Lots.

Dunno if its a MSR but Kings is pretty good.

Can't believe they didnt bring back Moonlight. It was a good filler last year.

I like Kings, too, but I'm not counting it because it's already gone. They'll supposedly run the rest of the episodes in the summer, but who knows...

Yup.

http://www.tvsquad.com/2009/04/24/kings ... he-summer/

"NBC's Kings has been moved to the middle of June after just four episodes, the last of which was moved from Sunday to Saturday just as Macaulay Culkin made an intriguing special appearance.

This just spells even more gloom and doom for the show that has suffered from low ratings and a juggled time slot since it hit the air. A two-month hiatus is the television equivalent of the "I just want to be friends" dump."

Better off ted is good and should get renewed.. I hope.

Also how the hell was Amy Poehler one of the bright spots in undeclared? She was entirely forgettable amongst an otherwise all-star cast.

i don't know i really enjoyed her, in comparison to really hating just about everyone else, although loudon wainwright is awesome at everything. i think it was really more bad writing and characters too broadly realized for any entertainment purpose.

I'm loving Castle. The writing is good, and I'll agree with Neesha that the plots are a little simple (very guessable and 'hey didn't L&O do that like 3 years ago?') but the characters are fun to watch and listen to.

I just hope they keep Castle and the cop chick out of a romance, the sexual tension banter is WAY more fun that way.

And the show looks like a solid keeper, so I'm not going to be going 'shit another cancellation!!!'

You can watch the episodes online I think on their website. I did that for the pilot.

I prefer vegging out for the shows I like, but I watch very little television in the livingroom. I just don't have time for it. Conversely I do have lots of downtime when working, so it's nice to queue up a show and watch it. It might take me 3 hours to watch a show, as I have to pause and do other things, but it's worthwhile to catch stuff I missed. :)

Yeah yeah I know...TiVo...but I don't :)

Yay for Castle!

Better off Ted got renewed too.

Not a mid season replacement... but it sounds like Chuck got renewed too. One of my current favorite shows, sounded like it wasnt going to make it at first.
