Ok, maybe this is late, since it has left the theatre some time ago and has been on Bluray and DVD for several months. But if you have not seen the Speed Racer movie, watch it. You might enjoy it. I know that when it came out, the critics gave it bad reviews. On the other hand, speaking as someone that remebers watching Speed Racer back when we referred to anime as "them thar japanese cartoony whatsits" it was on target. The plot, the characters, the CGI was IMO perfect for being Speed Racer brought to the big screen. Some things were a bit different; Trixie fighting, a Mach 6, Inspector Dectector and Sparky having accents. But overall it was fricken awesome. Anyway, if you are wondering what to get next on Netflix, and if you haven't seen it, I suggest watching it. And if you remember watching Speed Racer as a kid, you so need to see it. Oh, and it kicks but on Bluray on a 50" screen. |
