also i saw gran torino and it was terrible i kind of wish clint eastwood would die/retire so he'd stop making awful movies that the media is forced to like because they assume it's going to be his last.

I would have a hard time coming up with 10 movies I liked well enough to take the time to type their names out.

RDJ in Tropic Thunder was awesome though.

Batman was "meh" to me.

her body is definitely smoking i just think that in some of the stripping scenes the light showed her face in a terrible way, like the seinfeld "two-face" episode

Speaking of Dark Knight.....what was with the HORRIBLE angle work and lighting they had on whoever that was that replaced Katie Holmes?! So many scenes they had her looking downright hideous.

Also, the character "scarecrow" from the first movie was back but only had an ever so brief scene. I thought he went nuts and was locked up in in Arkam in the first movie? He was shown selling drugs just before the batman wannabes showed up.

Holmes was acceptable, the replacement was beaten with the pig faced ugly stick.

I think Maggie is hot in a girl-next-door way. I really enjoy her as an actress.

The last 30 minutes of The Dark Knight took it from GREAT to PRETTY GOOD in my book.

I haven't seen any movies this year that I thought were fantastic. Last movie I really loved was No Country For Old Men.

Clint Eastwood is one of the best working directors out there. The last 2 years haven't been stellar, but look at the last 8 years:

Letters from Iwo Jima
Million Dollar Baby
Mystic River
Space Cowboys (not Godfather, but damn fun)

I haven't gotten around to seeing Gran Torino yet.

letters was ok but not much more that a dozen other ww2 movies have done better, million dollar baby is good now that the universal acclaim as greatest movie of all time has dissipated somewhat, but the last truly great movie he directed was unforgiven. everything since has been at best uneven (changeling) and at worst heavily-layered metaphor that doesn't add up to anything and without meaning (mystic river)

I was going to take issue with a few of those movies(Wall-E was far too heavy handed to be a "great" movie. Nice kids flick.) until I realized that I couldn't really think of anything that I had seen that was all that much better. Not a stellar year for movies, I guess.

I thought Unforgiven was way overrated, personally. I really enjoyed Wall-E. I can't remember the last time I sat and watched a "kid's flick" like that and enjoyed it as much. I guess the whole package (story, visuals, etc) made it more enjoyable for me. I was thinking about this the other day and I have come to the conclusion that I am getting old.

Oh, and the ending of The Wrestler pissed me off.

yeah i wasn't really wild about the list when i put it together but then i realized that i'd seen about all the movies i wanted to see this year, and there just weren't really any that stood out as absolutely noteworthy.

Maggie = not hot

The only movie I liked a lot in 2008 was Let the Right One In

Some movies had good performances like Ledger in Batman but overall most of them were overlong uninspired hollywood mediocrity.

Other good notables -
Man on Wire
There will be Blood
In Bruges
Wall-E Yeah, if you have kids your like/dislike of movies is based on how rewatchable it is. This one scores high on the not driving me nuts scale.

Gran Torino...good to see Clint Eastwood in a role that he hasn't tried before.
