Looking for some music suggestions of recent popular rock - pop/rock for a 12 year old.

I am completely out of touch with "new" rock. I don't even know the names of bands that are popular now. Everything on local radio is pearl jam, nirvana, alice n' chains, STP, sprinkled with some new stuff, but they never say who it is.

I am going to be downloading some songs and music videos - any ideas?

Need to have pg-13 songs. Some cursing is ok as long as it isn't .... well, you know... "She fukin' hates me, la la la la She fukin' hates me, la la la la She fukin' hates me, la la la la "

Looking for stuff kinda like Fall out Boy (woohoo, I know one!)

Help! =P

Yes. Death Magnetic is good -- not OMG it is the best record ever made but really good. Broken, Beat and Scared and All Nightmare Long became my son's football team's defacto songs.

Speaking of letting kids listen to it, the only song that I really have concerns about my nine year-old son listening to is Cynaide and that is due to the repeated reference to killing oneself. I don't recall any language (your concerns may be different with a 12 year old).

My son has musical likes that are based off what I like (suprise!) His favorite band is Iron Maiden. He is very imaginative and loves the how Maiden has a story for each song. I still pick and choose what songs he gets to listen to, but he is an "old-school metalhead" and doesn't care if his friends like his music.

There are "now" cd's out there. I think the most recent one is 29.

They have the lastest music thats on the radio all the time, and it has some rap , some rnb, some country, ect.

You can go to http://www.Nowthatsmusic.com and listen to whats on the cd itself.
it also has a few others you can brouse from. I been getting them for a while- I find its easier to buy the boys that than 10 diff cd's.

Even if you get your music another way, you will be able to get names/artists for the newest ones out.
