I'm starting to get into Latin music, specifically accoustic Latin guitar. I've heard bits and pieces of it and quite enjoy what I've heard, but I'm not sure who the best artists are out there that do this.

Here's some samples of the type of music I'm referring to:

Anyone out there a fan of this type of guitar music that you can recommend some good starter artists?

Look up "Bad Ass" in the dictionary. You'll find pictures of Rodrigo y Gabriela:

Stairway to Heaven

Tamacun

Diablo Rojo on Letterman

Wish You Were Here Live

Metallica's "One"

I dig the Rodrigo Y Gabriela stuff. Cool how she plays the beat on her guitar like an Irish bohdrain. :)

Julian Bream looks talented, but a bit mellow for what I am searching for. I'm looking for fast music particularly.

And that Andy McKee kicks ass and plays like a pro (but the videos make it look like he's an amateur?). Good recommendation.

Btw, I'm loving the fact that PHPBB lets us embed Youtube videos like this. Makes it so much easier to sample the music. :)

I believe that Andy McKee's "drifting" had something to do with the movie "August Rush." Some relatives turned us on to him after watching the movie, which we have yet to do.

Julian Bream does a lot of spanish stuff, the one I posted was a classical composition. If you want to look deeper, go ahead -- he's cool but definitely mellow a lot.

Yeah, it blows me away just how quick and precise they have to be on the strings with this music. They're all over the fret bar (and toss in the drumming on the guitar like RYG and McKee do and it's insane).

Cuch, do a search on Youtube for the mini-lesson that RYG give on "Tamacun" and you'll see what's involved in her keeping that beat...its unreal.

I really liked the RyG stuff.

Not Latin music, so ignore this if you're only after that specifically, but I saw some guitar tapping and it reminded me of a guy who I think everyone should check out at least once. Then feel free to return to the thread in progress!

Bob Zabek should be a millionaire or something.

Anyway, here is a cool Spanish classical piece, often considered to be one of the hardest to play.

I downloaded a couple Rodrigo y Gabriela albums, the s/t and one called Re-Foc or something. Thanks.

I THINK Lou coded that specifically in, so kudos to him.

It's a mod/custom BBCode / HTML Replacement, and yes it's very handy.
