One of the trailers/teasers was for a new Terminator film. Terminator Salvation or something like that. When the guy said "Sarah Conner", half the crowd gasped and got excited. I dunno, is the Terminator still relevant in society?

The teletubbies are more relevant IMO, they have a TV in their bellies which is a reflection of our habits.

Are you sure it wasn't a groan? That was the theaters' collective sound when I saw it...

WTF is Bale doing in it though?

T1 was a very good flick. T2 really raised the bar on how good an action movie could be (alongside being the grandaddy of CGI). So the Terminator series to me is very relevent.

In my opinion, T3 came along at a perfect time. The Matrix 2+3 had gagged us to death with wire work and Spiderman 1 had semi-weak CGI that defied gravity. So for me, T3 was a very good action flick if for no other reason that Arnold felt "heavy" in it. That is, I loved seeing a film without wirework and excessive CGI (ironic, isn't it). I also loved the ending. T3 had problems - the script was a bit light and the overall quality felt rushed. Changing actors is also rarely good. You lost out on a lot of the dynamics that made T2 great.

Sadly, I can't see T4 being any good. To me, the story is told. The only thing T4 can be about is "the big war with the big machines where humans finally win." I would love to be surprised - afterall, T2 was a surprise. But, I doubt it.

T1 was good
T2 was amazing
T3 was decent
Not sure how/if they'd get arnold into 4. He's getting pretty crusty these days...but could still prolly be all "GED OWT!" and hurl me out of a window.

That abortion of a show on TV sucks. Bastardizes such a fine story.

It just surprises me somewhat that all these things that were exciting and mainstream many years ago are being brought back. Which is why I made the whole "relevant" comment. I mean... I was a big X-Files fan when the TV show was on. It was entertaining, exciting, dramatic, and thoroughly enjoyable. Saw the movie, liked it for the most part. Now, after not being in the mainstream spotlight for what, 8 years or so... they have a new movie coming out?!? It would have been a great movie about 6 years or so ago, once the TV show had ended and a year or two had elapsed- X-Files would still be in people's minds, and they would have been excited about a new movie.

Now? I guess we will see. But it just seems too many years too late IMHO. Same thing with this new T4 movie...

A lot of the stuff that appealed to us growing up still appeals to us and they are starting to cash in on it. It's the same kinda thing where all these 80's kids toys are going for hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

I await a Thundercats movie.

It surprises me too, but look how well the Sex and the City movie did a few months ago.

Christian Bale kind of looks like what I would imagine an older John Conner. This movie could be pretty good. The previous T's have been about changing the future that is an inevitable destiny and we finally see it. I want to see how the T movies finally end in respect to the big war and everything.

I believe I had read there will be a Thundercats CGI movie similar to the recent TMNT one in 2012 or something.

Yeah, Thundercats is apparently in the works.
There's also a new Star Trek film next year (sort of a prequel movie to the original Star Trek 1), as well as a G.I. Joe movie (G.I. Joe : Rise of Cobra is the working title I think).
Ever since Transformers got it's movie debut, I had a feeling G.I. Joe wouldn't be far behind, so I can't say I'm surprised with that one.

As for Terminator Salvation (the full movie title), on IMDB Arnold isn't present in the cast listing, so it would seem that they're finally moving away from him.
Which could be a good thing. A fresh set of actors could bring something new to the film, and I think a number of people would be more inclined to watch the film for what it is rather than that Arnold was in it. If that makes sense.
