Has anyone seen this yet?

I loved the book as a kid, would hope that the movie stays true to the script.

I liked it. I thought it was better than the first movie, at the same time I felt something was missing when I left the theater, and I can't nail it down.

I liked it better than the first as well. I felt the character dialogue was much much better. Like some of the CS Lewis dialogue as well. Very nice.

Disliked the first one immensely, and will not be going to see the second. Almost as bad as the Golden Compass from last year(?).

I enjoyed the first one- I just wish the CGI was better in it. But I think it's a great story and it did make a great movie, IMO.

I haven't really heard anything about the Golden Compass- usually I hear about movies from my friends, but they may have missed that one. The ads made it look like it was mostly polar bears fighting, kind of hard to tell what else it was about....

A viewer's guide to the Golden Compass:

Step 1: Take anti-religious propaganda.
Step 2: Add magic and polar bears.
Step 3: Make the polar bears talk.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit!

I never read the books, but it seemed like the little comedy quips between Edmund/Peter were thrown in at random. The dialogue was different but it's like they played the same gag every time. Peter says something, Edmund comes back with something witty, cue 10 year olds chuckling.
