Stage 6 quickly became my favorite place to download and watch high-quality videos. Well, just as it was getting good (my browser stopped crashing) - they are pulling the plug.

I always wondered how they could afford all that bandwidth... I guess they couldn't.

Upload functionality has already been turned off, and you’ll be able to view and download videos until Thursday.

It's no wonder... the amount of copyrighted videos up there was insane.

Still, there's Veoh / Joox and other sites. I still prefer to download torrents, since I can stream to my HDTV through my Xbox 360 or convert them to watch on my PSP/DS.

There really is a demand for this sorta thing though... I think I heard that Youtube was going to have a HD section... I dunno. Anything done in flash looks like ass pretty much.

There is a site called HULU that I am a beta-tester for, but their shit is in flash too - it looks good in a tiny screen, but if you try to maximize it - ouch.

DIVX is awesome... I loved being able to download stuff from the site, burn it to DVD and watch it on our stand alone player.

My wife and I like to watch foreign music videos and try to guess what country they are from =) Some of that foreign pop music is catchy =). Well for the next few days I am going to be sitting here downloading everything I can from stage6 before it poofs.

It was a great site.. I think maybe we aren't "there yet" as far as that sort of thing being affordable - I can't even begin to imagine how much bandwidth was consumed. Well, that and the copyright lawsuits. There was a ton of copyright stuff there, that's for sure. Our favorite was the music though.

Thing is, there are artist from around the globe that I had never heard of but are HUGE.
