The Orc King.

"Drizzt is back in this exciting new trilogy from Salvatore. An uneasy peace between the dwarves of Mithral Hall and the orcs of the newly established Kingdom of Many-Arrows can't last long. Powerful individuals on both sides may have to change the way they see each other."

First in the next Drizzt trilogy. Came out in late Oct. and is now under the tree, unwrapped for me for Xmas. The next 2 follow in Oct '08-'09.

Just finished it. It was good, but I dunno, it didn't do it for me like the previous series have. It just seems like the same old thing over and over. He needs to kill someone important or something.

EDIT: I'd much rather read about what Jarlaxle or Artemis are up to then read about Drizzt fighting random_super_tough_guy_1233 and living.

I agree 100%.

The book was good, and kind of repetitive of earlier books, but he did set up some good story lines for further on.

Bring back Jarlaxle and Artemis in their own seies.

I've not yet read The Orc King (waiting till paperback) but I will agree that Servant of the Shard, Promise of the Witch King and Road of the Patriarch were excellent and very much hope to see more.

Has anyone read the War of the Spider Queen series? Was thinking of buying those next but I am concerned they won't live up to Salvatore's own work.

Kill Drizzt please.

But by this point the character has reached Demigod status, there is honestly no way to kill him.

Going back and reading Legacy of the Drow you actually see that he is vulnerable and a believable hero.

Now, all he does is walk to where the bad guys are and kill them, then feel bad about it for 3 chapters.

I remember the death of Wulfgar, not because it was tragic but because I was glad. I felt he was a worthless character and only stood in the way to further Drizzt having the hots for whats her name and she wanting to knock drow boots with him.

I would rather see more about Jarlaxle also. Maybe more about his pre House Banere days and how he became as powerful as he is.

Uhm, didn't Jarlaxle reveal that he was the child of Matron Baenre, and that's how he afforded such power in Menzoberranzan?

Yes.

Which is considerably more interesting of a story than Drizzt going from point A to point B feeling bad about killing ice trolls.

The Servent of the Shard books aren't enough.

How about Cadderly? Those books were really interesting as well. Those dwarves were awesome... Ivan and Pikel I think their names were? I think Pikel was the only druid I've heard of in Salvatore's books.

the cleric quintet rocked, but mostly because that was it, 5 books and nothing more, if they dragged it out longer, it would of ruined all the characters eventually, except it was kinda cool how they brought those two dwarfs over to orc king series though

They brought the dwarves to the orc king series because in one of the immediately previous books, Drizzt and company visited Cadderly at Spirit Soaring.

that was such a brief visit though, I wonder when he wrote that part if he had already started work on the quintet series

Pretty sure that was long after the Quintet series was finished, because in the book (Legend of Drizzt series, Passage to Dawn, I think) Cadderly was aged, married to Danica and had children, and of course, Spirit Soaring was built.
