Woohooo, just got home from seeing it!!! I loved it!

Now, it's been a while since I read the book- but WOW they changed so many things!
That last fight with Vold and Dumb, OMG was that cool- they so needed the statues to join in and finish the scene off.

hrmm, here are some mumbles I had... Kreacher was shown (he was done very well) but then they took out most of his story, at that point if you never read the book you missed out on harry going there because kreacher lied to him, and all that leading to sirius's death. No showing of the dear Mrs. black, but I loved how the family tree was the entire room. They also didn't show Kreacher taking Black items or anything on Mundungous- and since I think one of them has the locket which will be needed in book 7....

No mentioning of Herm and Ron being prefects- or any quiddach. Fred n George's fireworks scene was great. Wish they woulda done more with them, along the lines of the swamp and their joke stuff- but the scene with Filtch and the candy was a great add in.

Snape was pretty low key this round- I think they should of shown more of the hatred between snape and sirius, considering all snape is doing in the next book. Even though they changed how Harry see's snapes past, I'm glad they got that part in. I still dont know how I stand with him going into book 7.

The beginning with Dudley was nicely done. Again, without reading the book a lot would of come across confusing. (with the neighbor knowing)

I SOOOO wanted to hear Garwp say Herm's name.

I didn't like how they made it so Cho was the tattle tale. I can understand the time thing, but why did they have to kill off Harry's love life with a rat. (of course til he found out why she told)

The snake/ a. weasley scene was very cool, - but we miss out on seeing Nevilles parents- guess thats why they switched it to Sirius giving Harry the picture instead.

The profecy stuff was weird too. Harry hearing it right off the shelf, and Lucious breaking it. Wouldn't off been to hard to have Harry break it.

Ahh, look at me- I loved it!! I think at this point you have to have read the books or the movies are going to steadily get more confusing. I thought it was well done! Guess some parts you just have pictured in your head and when you see them in the movie your hoping they will be the same :)

Best "movie from the books" in the Harry Potter series yet.

I have to say that it wasn't bad.

For being the 5th movie in the series, they managed to keep a least a good portion of the relevant storyline in. Generally speaking, if you have a series of books where the books become longer and longer the further in the series you go...making a movie means there's more and more material that will have to end up cut due to time constraints for each film.

Personally, I don't think Book/Movie 6 will have too much of this issue...there's quite a bit of fluff in the book that can easily be removed. Minus Snape killing Dumbledore...or course....

It was definitely good, but I think you're wrong there.

they relied on a LOT of character development in the first 4 movies. There was virtually none besides Harry's. Standalone, this movie is far from the best, but relying on all of the setup and relationship building of the first 4, I might agree with you.

It was the best movie yet imo.. The changes they made were understandable and sometimes actually better; which has not happened before.

My complaint is that Michael Gambon has no clue who Dumbledore is.. No clue at all.

I would disagree. He doesn't have the warm cuddly that the first one did, but goddamn does he have the "I'm sorry, did you think I was going to just roll over and show my belly?" hard line that dumbledore has in him DOWN. The hand clap/phoenix moment was awesome.

Although not quite as awesome as:

"So you applied for to be the dark arts teacher?"
"yeeeeeees."
"And you failed to get it?"
"Obbbbbbbviouslyyyyyyyy."

I love the actor playing Snape so much right now. lol.

Did they change the actor playing Snape? Or is it still Rickman?

Yeah.. Rickman is the best-cast actor in a role in this whole series. Not that the others are wrong, but it's 100% perfect.

The actor that plays Draco's dad. I hate him, he makes me hate him and I find him perfect for the role. I hated him since the first time I remember seeing him in a movie.

Yeah, I saw Die Hard again recently and I kept waiting for Hans to pull out a wand.

Jason Isaacs plays Mr. Malfoy.

Alan Rickman is a great actor.

Whether as Severus Snape in the Potter movies, the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, or the Voice of God in Dogma, he never fails to deliver.

Dumbledore has the hard line but it is so deep whereas Gambon always has it at the top. Dumbledore is quirky and caring and aloof on top and extremely dangerous down deep. The guy doesn't get who Dumbledore is, just what power he has.
