So do we have anyone actually playing this game.... it's been so quiet and that actually sparks my curiosity more than when everyone was going crazy about it. I'm still curious if our Lanys community will be giving it a shot. I love Star Wars, was a huge fan until the prequels + Lord of the Rings. I'm a mid-evil/Fantasy guy especially with MMO's but to be honest, Rift and Project 1999 are about all I have and i'm not sure that's saying much haha... .

Evilundead Afterlife - I do like the game. The thing I have been telling people to keep in mind is this: It's a Star Wars MMO in a very popular timeframe being released in a Post-WoW MMO Market, so there's a lot of things which will feel familiar to anyone whose been playing MMOs in the past few years.

MuliganVanJurai - Like every major release MMO, I'll end up pre-ordering it. I haven't actually played/raided in WoW since Feburary and am pretty much done with it. I did play Rift for awhile, but when I discovered that the most accomplished raiding guild in the game (as of a few months ago) had a bunch of the devs in it and they made no shame about it, I figured out that there's a reason why they haven't breached over a million or so accounts.

I think the game has great appeal, the real test is going to be the same as every game: will it be playable past the normal benchmarks (90 days, 6 months, a year, etc) and how exactly they handle elder content (raiding, pvp, etc). Plus, it's really nice to play an MMO which follows modern schemes but ISN'T high fantasy.

I'll definitely pre-order, think I'll wait until those are announced. Though, if there's a digital download option, that's the most important to me. Not standing in line at midnight but still playing with the first group was a real big plus for cataclysm.

I'd have a hard time getting a new MMO at a midnight release anyway. There's going to be a big patch and certainly a ton of technical issues in the first several hours.

It was the Gates of Discord I think....the expansion with the zone names like Barrinndu, Kod`Taz etc (im off i know) that expansion cause a lot of full time EQ-ers to jump ship a lot sooner than they would have.

The chances are pretty high that EA will put some sort of Super Deluxe Collector's Edition on their new Origin service...just like they're doing with Mass Effect 3.

Personally, it'll all depend on if there is some neat stuff with the physical CE. Even though Warhammer was a bust, the CE was actually pretty damn cool. It was a good combination of physical bonuses and in-game stuff.

Yea, the hardcover book in the Warhammer CE was pretty sweet.

$150 for the collectors edition. Standard CE physical swag. 7 in game digital items. Couple pets, personal buff, some mount and a special CE only vendor in game.

At least, I think I did. It said while supplies last. I wasn't aware that a digital download was subject to fucking supply logistics.

Still not 100% sold on this game yet, although I've always loved the Star Wars movies/universe, and the graphics on this game do look fantastic.

There's a lot of information out there suggesting combat is "WoW with Star Wars graphics" and that it's about as exciting as watching paint dry, which puts me off it somewhat. Sick and tired of the whack-a-mole MMOs out there these days.

Any beta testers care to chime in otherwise?

Well...since I was right about them revealing the CE details at Comic-Con and the fact that John R said today that "Not before October", I'm putting my finger on a November release date...likely around Black Friday.

As for how the combat plays out...

I can say...(without breaking NDA) based on what is known about the combat system and what people have played with at the various conventions it has been open the public, the LOWER END of the game plays exactly like WoW without auto-attack. It's an Ability Cooldown/GCD game. However, once you get your advanced class (also not breaking NDA) at level 10, you start to get more and more variety in the way of what you will use in solo or group content. There really is no way at the moment to say how End Game is going to play out without breaking NDA so sorry...hands are tied on that.

A few bits of interesting news from the Comic-Con Panels:

Aside from the Eternity Vault (the one raid zone revealed), there will be a whole raid PLANET.

Along with the normal Battleground/Warzones for PVP, there will also be a PVP Planet, likely a mix of Warhammer'ish RVR zones.

You will be able to switch your advanced class easily the FIRST time, but if you want to switch afterwards they say it is going to be far more difficult AND expensive.

Oooo now I like this idea myself big time! I wonder how well the BioWare teams will use "planets" in their game. And, I hope the planets are not as small as KOTOR zones were in the first game. I'm thinking it might just be a few zones and that's about it. We will see once the game is live and stuff

People can start forming guilds right now on the SWTOR website, and later on you will be allowed to ally other guilds which will help to be placed on the same server. If anyone wants to organize something that's probably the best thing to do in preparation for release.

Here's a link for the one I started, if anyone wants to join it/ally it, whatever. Mostly everything is place holder including the guild. I mostly made it to keep tally of people I know who are playing the game, and to somehow try and end up on the same place.

No real predictions from GC this week. We do know they'll be showcasing PVP Warzones and they will actually have a live raid of The Eternity Vault (the first raid). Since raid testing isn't open to testers as of yet, this should prove to be interesting.

Just a headsup. They are going to be inviting guilds into the beta soonish. The minimum requirement is to have 10 members in your guild, then for the most part it will be a random lotto like they are doing with the normal invites.

I need to go find a guild then I guess.

I've got a Republic Guild up. Membership is open to any former Oryx or Lanys people. I already have 10 members (which meets the requirements for a Guild Testing Invite) plus I've got my contacts which may help get the guild in. I'm not making a guarentee, but it wouldn't hurt.
