I picked it up early but didn't enter the code until 7/23/11 and I still don't have a early access mail yet. I love to know how its being worked out. A guildie entered hers on the 28th of July and is in game now.

1) You can see when exactly you added your code in the Code area under My Account on swtor.com.

2) There's a helpful post on the boards stickied that lets you know how many waves have been sent. If the swtor site goes down or is slow, they also are updating their little Facebook page with that info.

Interesting. My Account page on their website still shows me as needing to register my pre-order code, yet I've done it already and have the email from Bioware to prove it. And, of course, I can't re-enter it as it's already been used and is no longer valid.

How can they gauge server load? Shouldn't most people be at work or school?

So does that mean tonight when everyone gets home, the servers will be slammed and collapse?

You're thinking in US-centric ideas. Europeans are also involved in this.

Hell, I logged in at 7:30am this morning to reserve names, and korriban was already packed.

And from a system administrator's perspective, it's quite easy to judge load, and when it will be okay to open a new gate.

they launched 5 total waves today.
starting again tomorrow.

my theory is they extended the 5 day early start to 7 days, to give them a 2 day buffer to ramp up the players, and hopefully get everyone in by Thursday giving everyone 5 days "as misinterpreted from the advertising."

I read "up to" 5 days, but most folks seemed to think = 5 days.

Hopefully this leads to a smooth game launch.

I have not ordered yet as my user has been locked due to the "security question" issue. I have to call someone to get it unlocked and every time I try the support number I get "all agents are busy, call back later"

It is pissing me off
