Do you realize that in the past calendar year the DFW Metroplex has hosted the following sports events:

World Series (Texas Rangers vs San Francisco Giants in Arlington)
Super Bowl (Steelers vs Packers in Arlington)
NBA Finals (Mavericks vs Heat in Dallas)
Manny Pacquiao defeats Antonio Margarito (Arlington)

Extending it out a little longer you can add the NBA All-Star Weekend ( Feb. 2010)

Also, Houston hosted the 2011 NCAA Basketball Final Four.

FC Dallas played in the 2010 MLS Cup (game was in Canada, not in Texas) and continued the trend of Dallas teams to fail to win their championship game

which the Mavs will extend in a 4-1 NBA finals defeat.

The MLS cup isn't necessarily hosted by a team playing in it, though. In 2009, Real Salt Lake beat the LA Galaxy to take the cup... at Qwest Field in Seattle.

Yeah Dallas is basically the worst but some stuff happens here sometimes.
