Let the 2011 version of Conference Musical Chairs begin!!! I think this is a good move for TCU. They bring some much needed football cred to the Big East and they will get a huge boost in Basketball. The Basketball boost could threaten the big Texas schools for recruits. For the Mountain West Conference, they are doomed. BYU leaves to become independent; Utah leaves to join the Pac10; and TCU leaves. Boise St. is joining the conference but it is just as weak as the WAC. The only way to save any face for them is if the MWC and the WAC somehow merge. This secures the Big East's automatic qualify status (do you really think that a conference that is based in the northeast would actually lose it's AQ status?) The MWC/WAC will remain a non-AQ conference. The conference formally known as the Big 12 will slowly become Texas, OU, and the 8 others. If the conference continues with that makeup, you will start hearing cries for that conference to lose AQ status. |
