The list of teams for the first round of the Stanley Cup are offical :)

Eastern Conference:

1. Washington Capitals vs Montreal Canadiens: Series tied 1-1

2. New Jersey Devils vs Philadelphia Flyers: Series tied 1-1

3. Buffalo Sabres vs Boston Bruins: Series tied 1-1

4. Pittsburgh Penguins vs Ottawa Senators: Series tied 1-1

Western Conference:

1. San Jose Sharks vs Colorado Avalance: Series tied 1-1

2. Chicago Blackhawks vs Nashville Predators: Nashville leads the series 1-0

3. Vancouver Canucks vs Los Angeles Kings: Series tied 1-1

4. Phoenix Coyotes vs Detroid Red Wings: Series tied 1-1

Here are my picks for the first round winners:

Eastern Conference:

1. Washington Capitals vs 8. Montreal Canadiens
Washington Capitals in 4.

2. New Jersey Devils vs 7. Philadelphia Flyers
New Jersey Devils in 6.

3. Buffalo Sabres vs 6. Boston Bruins
Buffalo in 7.

4. Pittsburgh Penguins vs 5. Ottawa Senators
Pittsburgh in 6

Western Conference:

1. San Jose Sharks vs 8. Colorado Avalance
San Jose in 5

2. Chicago Blackhawks vs 7. Nashville Predators
Chicago in 5

3. Vancouver Canucks vs 6. Los Angeles Kings
Vancouver in 6

4. Phoenix Coyotes vs 5. Detroid Red Wings
Phoenix in 7

I love my LA Kings, but I don't think they will get past the first round. They just bitch slapped the Canucks a few games back, but they are a young team with a bright future ahead of them...just this won't be the year for LA. They do have a chance to get to the second round tho. I just know Vancouver is a better team right now. No fanboy views here, telling it how it is.

So, hockey fans what are your picks for the first round of the playoffs?

There are always big first round "upsets" in the NHL Playoffs. I think that the Devils and Sharks are prime for going home earlier than most people. New Jersey lost the season series vs Philadelphia. The most glaring weakness for the Flyers is their goalie but they have players and a system that give Marty B fits. In the west, San Jose had a good season, but they seem to fall on their face come playoff time as Evgeni Nabokov seems to have stage fright every time the game is a "big game"

Good picks, Krby.

I see Vancouver Canucks fans are already talking trash about my team. How they forgot what happened in 93! I'll be there for both home games talking major trash to those heathens /grin

Can't wait

Bruins 1 -- Sabres 2

Buffalo leads the series 1-0

Canadiens 3 -- Capitals 2

Montreal leads the series 1-0

P.S.

Canucks 3 -- 2 Kings

Vancouver leads the series 1-0

What a great game and the OT period was some of the best saves I have seen yet! My Kings played very well, and Quick was focused and on his game all night. Man, the Kings were like an inch away from a goal that would had won the game...but an amazing save stopped that from happening

The Kings win in OT and tie the series! What a game tonight lol I'll be in person for the next two home games, and I really hope they are wins for LA

Recaps for today:

Bruins: 5 -- Sabres: 3
Capitals: 6 -- Canadians: 5 (what a game btw)
Kings 3: -- Canucks: 2 (what a game this was too)

"Flyers eliminate Devils with 3-0 win in Game 5"

Well my pick of the Devils did not happen. The first series is over, and the Flyers will have more rest for the next round. It was a very good fun series to watch I thought :)

:) got that one correct.

Recap:
Eastern Conference:
1. Washington Capitals vs 8. Montreal Canadiens
Washington Capitals in 5. (Wash is up 3-1)

2. New Jersey Devils vs 7. Philadelphia Flyers
Philadelphia Flyers in 6. (Flyers won in 5)

3. Buffalo Sabres vs 6. Boston Bruins
Buffalo Sabres in 7. (Bos leads 3-1)

4. Pittsburgh Penguins vs 5. Ottawa Senators
Pittsburgh Penguins in 5 (The Pens were a deflected goal from winning game 5 last night.)

Western Conference:

1. San Jose Sharks vs 8. Colorado Avalance
Colorado Avalance in 6 (SJ leads 3-2)

2. Chicago Blackhawks vs 7. Nashville Predators
Chicago Blackhawks in 4 (Series tied 2-2)

3. Vancouver Canucks vs 6. Los Angeles Kings
Vancouver Canucks in 6

4. Phoenix Coyotes vs 5. Detroit Red Wings
Detroit Red Wings in 5 (series tied 2-2)

I am surprised at the Wings and Hawks being tied 2-2. I thought Chicago and Detroit were much better than the teams they are playing.

San Jose Sharks vs Colorado Avalance series is over and I picked the right winner, but I was off by one game for the final count.

My pick was the Sharks in 5 games, but San Jose wins in 6.

Colorado will be going places next season that is for sure. They played like with a ton of heart in my eyes

I'm 2-1 so far in my picks! Not bad Neesha lol

I called it right. Casucks in 6 games and my Kings are done for the rest of the playoffs :(

Sad that I was right, but still proud of what they have done this season. Quick was one of the main reasons we lost, and those TWO amazing saves from Vancouver's goalie. Amazing indeed and it was a great series to be part of and exp first hand! I can't WAIT to see Vancouver get WTF owned next round tho /grin Can't wait I tell ya

Not so fast, we're chomping at the bit hoping to pay Chicago back for last year's exit. :) Was a good series, but would've been over sooner if our penalty killers weren't sniffing glue half the time...

Anyway, bring on the Hawks... or the winner of Det/Pho. I'm not too concerned either way. :)

Go Canucks!

The Kings will be back in full force next season that is for sure! I'm hoping for a rematch to take the series from the Casucks in 2011 ;)

I still think Vancouver has no chance of getting to the finals and winning the Cup. It's just not going to happen, and I do hope they cry all the way back home soon enough!

I hate the Casucks :D

The Coyotes got owned tonight and the Red Wings win the series. They will be going up against San Jose in the next round. Talk about mad hockey right there. Sad, because the Coyotes had a great season and forced a 7 game series. I got the right amount of games, just the wrong winner.

Once the Habs and Caps series is over tomorrow, round 2 will start and we have the following so far:

Sharks vs Red Wings (this should be a great series)
Blackhawks vs Casucks
Bruins vs Flyers
Pengiuns vs Caps or Habs (if the Habs, it will be an easy series for the Pengiuns...if the Caps, some insane stuff thats for sure)

Wow...what a series this was and I did not believe the outcome. I really do wonder how the Habs will do in the second round. I was WAY off on my pick for this series haha.

The Habs win the series and progress to the second round of the playoffs. Damn, the Caps fail to finish it with a 3-1 lead in the series. I bet their fans are not very happy atm

The official round 2 schedule is out:

Eastern Conference:

Pengiuns vs Canadians -- First game Friday April 30th
Bruins vs Flyers -- First game Sat May 1st.

Western Conference:

Sharks vs Red Wings -- First game Thursday April 29th.
Blackhawks vs Casucks -- First game Sat May 1st.

It's going to be a lot tougher to pick the winners in this round I'm thinking.

Edit:

Here are my picks for round 2 of the Playoffs

Eastern Conference:

Pengiuns in 6 games
Flyers in 6 games

Western Conference:

Sharks in 7 games (my gut is telling me the Red Wings will win the series, but I'm rooting for San Jose)
Blackhawks in 6 games.

There might be more forced game 7's in the next round, but this is what I'm going with

Pens in 5
Philly in 6

Red Army in 6
Hawks in 7

An Original Six match-up vs first expansion match-up

Hawks and Pens in Cup final with Sid the Kid skating the cup off the ice again.

Good picks, Krby

San Jose wins the first game and has a 1-0 lead in the series. Good game of hockey tonight.

San Jose wins and takes a 2-0 lead in their series tonight! Go Sharks. Also, the Habs tie their series 1-1 with their win of 3-1 today.

Good games and can't wait to see tomorrow's hockey too.

Damn. The Sharks wins in OT and now have a 3-0 lead in the series! So much for my 7 games for San Jose to win the series pick ;)

It's over now. There is no way the Red Wings can come back from being down 3-0 etc.

Sharks vs Red Wings

I love the Sharks fan at the end of the recap LOL

Montreal show the Penguins the door on game 7. Who's next Boston or Flyers... It's gonna be interesting!

Look at that play: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/consol ... -vidmod-hp

Moen pass to himself and the Penguins defenders stand still and do nothing! Look at the penguins fans hahaha. Priceless.

What he said lol. Montreal does show the champs the door and they move on to round 3. I was 3-1 for my picks, which is not bad at all. The only team I did not pick to win was Montreal.

Here are my 3rd round picks:

Eastern Conference:

Flyers vs Canadiens -- Flyers in 6 games

Western Conference:

Sharks vs Blackhawks -- Sharks in 6 games

I don't think there will be any game 7's in this round, and the way the Flyers came back from a 3-0 Boston lead in the series....I think they will make short work of the Habs. Or, Montreal will cont to play amazing and make it to the finals. But, I really want the Flyers to win so I'm going with them like I did last round.

Blackhawks have a 2-1 lead in the series and game 4 is tonight! Chris Pronger from the Flyers is a prick it seems lol

Quote:
What happened?

"I couldn't hear him, I don't speak gibberish," said Pronger, who picked up a misconduct penalty at the very end and got into it with Eager.

Where's the puck, Pronger was asked.

"It's in the garbage," Pronger replied. "Where it belongs."

You shot a towel at Eager when he complained?

"So what," Pronger replied.

You're collecting pucks now?

"Why not? What's wrong? It's sitting there. What else is gonna happen to it? It's sitting there. Sure, why not. You got a problem with that?"

Are you gonna sell it on eBay?

"I don't know. Apparently, it got him upset. So I guess it worked, didn't it? It's too bad. I guess little things amuse little minds."

Asshole

With stealing and taunting, Chris Pronger leads by example

Yeah he is haha. In other news tho...The Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup, only took them 49 years since their last Cup win.

Gratz Chicago and it was a great series indeed!

I'm going to Frozen Fury in Vegas to see the Kings start their season in Oct, and I have my season tickets for 2010-2011. Can't wait and I will be going to UCLA College hockey games next season for the first time too. Good times are ahead
