So, place your bets and who do you think will win the World Series this year? The Phillies or New York?

I'm rooting for the Phillies and hoping they get their back-to-back WS titles!

It should be a good series no matter what.

I say the Phillies in 5 games...that is what I'm predicting this year

You've been pretty accurate on your predictions so far.

thoughts on the Yankees/Phillies World Series Matchup:

- How SICK are Cleveland Fans? CC and Lee were team mates on the Tribe, both winning the AL Cy Young (Lee last year, and CC the year before)

- If Burnett and Petitte are "on" this could be a short series. The Phillies are more subject to pitching matchups (they are more left-handed dominate for their batting leaders) than the Yankees (more switch hitters and have power guys from both sides of the plate)

- The Phillies MUST have Hamels and whoever starts game three pitch well for them to win this.

- The Yankees have the better bullpen of the two teams.

I think that the Yanks win this is six. The Yanks are the best at working pitchers and making them throw pitches. Each Philly starter must go into the 7th of each game to give them a chance to win.

Well I can say the same about you no? ;)

I knew the Dodgers would never get past the Phillies, but I was rooting for a freeway series. Game 2 of the ALCS would had been the difference if the Angels won it. The series would be tied atm, but whatever...it's all good.

So, I take it you think the Yankees will beat the Phillies this year, Neesha lol

Yes, you could say the same about me. But it wouldn't be sarcastic. ;)

The Phillies lead the series 1-0 and they beat the Yankees best starter. Tomorrow, they will send A.J. Burnett to the mound. Let's see how well he does against the Phillies tomorrow night ;)

I would not be surprised PHI sweeps the first two games in Yankee Stadium, but we will see about that on Thursday night.

Yeah, I knew this was going to happen but I was hoping for the best lol The Yankees will win this series and Aroid will get his fucking WS ring.

Oh well, what can you do...The Yankees in game 6 (if the Phillies are lucky enough to force a game 6 that is). New York leads the series 2-1

Like I said in the Dodgers thread...there is no way the Phillies can be the AL teams ;)

Wow what a game tonight, and the Phillies can't hold the Yankee hitters. I do wonder how Lee will pitch tomorrow night. I think it was a mistake not starting him in game 4, to risk going down 3-1 against NY.

Well, the ball is in Lee's hands now, and let's see how he can handle the Yankees for the second time

The Phillies almost blew a 6 run lead in the WS. At least they won't lose the series at home in front of their fans /grin

3-2 New Yorks leads.

Yeah, I think Wednesday's going to be it. They're not throwing Lee out there on one day rest, and the Yankees have jacked up every other pitcher the Phils have put in front of them, so I think this ends Wednesday, probably decided by the fifth inning.

My Yankees in six worked.

Pedro looked totally out of it in the first inning last night. I am surprised that he lasted as long as he did.

Next year the Yanks really need to shore up that bridge between starters and Mo. The also NEED to have the "next Mo" identified. I don't think he has very much longer (one maybe two seasons at max) as an effective closer.

The Phillies are a good team. They need to have a little more left/right balance and some help in their bullpen. They are an overall young team so they should be in contention for the next few years
