Florian over Penn via 4th round submission

Silva over Griffin via Unanimous Decision

No other predictions for me, looking forward to it though!

Penn over Florian via split decision.

Silva over Griffin via unanimous decision.

Almeida over Grove via 2nd round submission.

Neer over Pellegrino via split decision.

Hendricks over Sadollah via 1st round TKO.

I'm hoping to see Penn redeem himself a little. At the very least he won't have to deal with a greased-up opponent this time out.

Are you still whining about the vaseline? It takes a lot more than a lil vaseline on someone's back to get your ass kicked. If your only skill and is being in the guard then, yeah, I guess that takes a little out of your only gameplan. Even without vaseline on GSP's back, BJ would have kicked his ass all over that ring like he did. Get over it.

Florian over Penn via Penn's vag having sand in it, I mean unanimous decision.

Silva over Griffin via 2nd round KO.

Wow. Let me be the first to say: what the fuck was up with the Silva-Griffin fight? Griffin gives up and then runs out of the ring?

There needs to be an explanation for that shit.

(P.S. For someone who acts like he knows a lot about the sport, you seem to underestimate the impact that having a greased-up back would have in that fight. You apparently have no understanding of Penn's ground game.)

My guess is that his eye socket or cheekbone was broke.

Well, then, I picked 4 out of 5 winners, even if I was only 1 of 5 on how they'd win. I don't think the Hendricks-Sadollah fight was quite as controversial as Rogan kept saying it was. It was perhaps a split second too early, but the ref's responsibility is to protect the fighters. I don't think it's a bad call.

Neer... what the fuck, Neer? I don't understand why this guy kept throwing his hands up in the middle of the fight. He's on his back, he should be trying to work the ground game, and he's throwing his hands up in frustration like Pellegrino had done something illegal. He absolutely deserved to lose that fight.

Almeida and Grove wasn't as bad a match-up as I expected. Almeida needs to work on his conditioning.

I've already commented on Silva vs. Griffin. I genuinely hope Griffin is okay, but it better have been a fucking medical emergency for him to give up like that and run out. What an embarrassing fight.

Penn showed that he can be the Man when he wants to be. He was quick, aggressive, but patient. Exactly what I'd hoped I'd see, a great fight.

On the contrary, I have a very good understanding of Penn's ground game. He loves being in the guard with those stupid little monkey legs of his. I am confident GSP didn't know what his corner was doing. If he did, shame on him. Regardless, the result would have been the same and there is nobody on earth that could logically dispute that. Everyone out there who is a somebody in the sport concurs that GSP dominated Penn on every level and that anything that was on him was a non-factor in the outcome, so it's really pointless to argue about it.

Back to 101...I was surprised to see Silva get the 1st rounder, but I figured that is how that fight would turn out. Silva is simply the most dominant fighter in the UFC in any weight class. It's going to be a while before anyone gets near his level of skill to have a chance to beat him.

GSP dominated Penn. You're absolutely right. Penn showed up out of shape and got gassed quickly. It doesn't change the fact that GSP having greased up shoulders prevented Penn from using his guard effectively, one of his strengths. I'm not saying it would have changed the outcome of the fight, but it certainly made me think a great deal less of GSP.

As for Griffin, they're saying on the Sherdog forums that his jaw was broken and that he lost his hearing at some point in the fight, which is why he waved off Silva and ran to the back so quickly. So at least there's a legit reason for that. Hope it's nothing serious, hearing loss would scare the shit out of me.

GRIFFIN UNINJURED, NOT DEALING WELL WITH LOSS
Quote:
Reports surfaced on Sunday that Griffin had suffered a jaw injury and that was the reason for his hasty exit, but MMAWeekly.com was able to confirm with representatives from Zinkin Entertainment, Griffin's management group, that he is physically fine following the Saturday night fight.

Griffin suffered no broken jaw and he is physically okay, said the Zinkin representative, but emotionally he is definitely not dealing well with the loss.

So yeah, he just got his ass beat and didn't want no mo'.

Just like UFC 100, pretty predictable results.

Why Griffin would "take it hard" after getting wrecked by Silva is beyond me. The two aren't even in the same league. I guess I'm one of those folks that was never all that impressed by Griffin to begin with and honestly expected a quick result. I remember asking my wife why they were even putting those two in a ring to begin with, I'd have about as much chance against Silva as Griffin does.

As for Penn...well, Tyral said it best about the GSP fight: "Penn showed up out of shape and got gassed quickly." I know the guy is no joke, but he just doesn't impress me very often. Seems like the kind of guy that rides his natural ability as far as it'll go without trying too hard. I could be wrong, who knows. I knew he'd win, but I rather hoped he'd lose.

The more I watch UFC, the more I like WEC. The little guys are just more fun to watch. But maybe thats just because I'm 135 myself.

Yeah, it's always weird to me to see these professional fighters that weigh like 125 pounds and thinking, "Wow, I could probably like...just sit on that guy."

Recall UFC II or III when the black sumo wrestler fought some white guy.

I'm 63kg right now at 183cm, I guess thatd be 139lbs at 6ft. I eat like a lawnmower and train 2-3 hours a day. Not that uncommon here, I know few people past 180lbs, most are like 155.

Anyhow, WEC fights are just more exciting to me. Although I'm looking forward to Keith Jardine Vs. Thiago Silva and Nate Marquardt Vs. Demian Maia in UFC 102.
