If you thought the All Star game was pointless - this adds a new level to pointlessness.

Basically, you take spring training and say "this is for the real world championship". Only MLB...

You want a legit WBC? Play it after the World Series. Let the MLB champions play the champions of other leagues around the world and determine a real WORLD champ.

It's no more pointless than the Davis Cup. Some people take national pride in it. It's not a huge deal in the US, but I am sure countries elsewhere eat it up. Is Soccer's World Cup any less important just because people in the United States don't really care about it?
