The gas shortage in Atlanta is bad enough that the Chief of Police is telling people that if you can't get to the game & home again on a single tank of gas, stray home; A petroleum co executive is telling the governor to consider cancelling the game because gas should be preserved for daily life. Just wow!

come to Texas! Lots of gas here! I paid $3.50/gal to fill up on Tuesday and didn't have to wait at all for a gas pump.

Then again, no-one in Texas is saying to suspend college football games either, they don't want to get run out of town.

3.35 here and no lines. Didn't we just have a hurricane here two weeks ago? Why in the hell is Atlanta running out of gas?

You haven't heard? Georgia - especially Atlanta - is full of absolute idiots. We ARE the place with the school district that lost its accreditation.

Because the power got cut to the refineries and that shit takes a long time to get put back up. The same reason we got fucked with gas after Katrina, there was very little actual damage but they couldn't power anything.

The whole southeast is out, the pipeline coming out of Texas that runs to Virginia is at 40% or less and we've used the supply that was in the flow before the hurricane. That pipeline supplies every state in between and TN and some of Florida with the branches that come off of it.

Anyone that likes being able to do the necessities is parking their ass at the house unless they have to go out so they will have gas to get where they have to be.

I live less than 10 miles from probably the second largest refinery in the nation. After the storm passed, it was priority one to get that thing back on line and the electricity was back on to the refinery two days after the storm.

I'm not sure how long the Exxon refinery was down, but the BP one was back up very quickly.

That's good to hear. Basically there isn't a whole lot of extra supply in the system, it's a use as you get it kind of setup.
