Philly will be better than they wer last year. The AFC West will be a lot tougher than it has been; SD will still win the division but the other teams won't be that far out of it. The NFC West will be horrible; Seattle will win the division with a 9-7 record. Cleveland is greatly over-rated. the difference between the best team in the AFC (Indy) and the worst team in the AFC (Miami) will not be that great - the playoff spots won't be locked in until the last games. The NFC East will be best division in the NFL. Washington and NYGiants will just be a game or so out of the playoffs. Did I mention that the NFC West will be horrible?

I think the overall quality of the rest of the Vikings team will carry the QB for Minnesota (see: Baltimore 2000). They have a very good defense, a good running game, and good special teams. If they get average QB play then they have a chance to be a good team. Dallas should be the best of the NFC but I have a feeling that they will be hit with an injury bug like St. Louis last year. Dallas has been extremely lucky the past couple years in regards to injuries.

when you have an awesome defensive line and a crappy rest of the defense, you can improve the defensive line but you still have a crappy rest of the defense

I hate the Cowboys more than any other pro team other than the Utah Jazz (fuck you, John Stockton, Karl Malone, and Jeff Hornacek) but even I am not blinded by that hatred and know a good team when I see it.

You see a decent roster that needs to prove itself. Oh, and the most overrated quarterback in football. I might point that comment back on myself and say McNabb, but he's not healthy enough to qualify.

Romo isn't overrated, he just has to prove himself in the post-season to truly be worthy of his super-star status.

He's been in the postseason two whole times and lost two whole games. He has been the starter for one full year and broke a few Cowboys QB records last year. Clearly, his career is Epic Fail.

Right. Sorry, sir, but that position was where I would've placed John Elway (well, not entirely) and Steve Young prior to their rings. He's super-status for the USFL compared to those cats. If he can remain consistent, well, maybe then he can at least borrow some space from Dan Marino in the post-season proving ground dept.

I said he was overrated, not bad. He's definitely shown production, and if he maintains it, I'll take it back. Shit, he's got plenty of time. Even Jeff George won a playoff game ;)

The only "Super-Star" status he has is from titty fucking Jessica Simpson. Other than that he is a mediocre QB at best.

Granted he is a nice guy, but super star? I don't think so. As far as his records go, the Cowboys last season played every shitty team in the league... twice. Hell, they didn't even play a team with a winning record until what, week 10? Joe Montana could come out of retirement with his cantaloupe sized elbow and break records with the limp dick schedule they had last year.

I predict they won't even be in the top 5 for the NFC this year and not only that they won't even win their division.

Mediocre at best? You can't be serious.

Yards - 4211 (3rd most in the NFL)
TD Pass - 36 (2nd)
QB Rating - 97.4 (5th)

Joe Montana's best numbers:
Yards - 3944
TD Pass - 31
QB Rating - 118.4

I am not saying Tony Romo is in Joe Montana's league [yet] but give the guy a little credit. I guess now we know why you haven't posted your predictions. Titans/Rams Superbowl anyone?!

Yeah, I can be serious.

1 full season does not make him a superstar, but then again, you silly cowboys fans think every player on the roster is a superstar.

That has already been said once by me and also quoted in this thread. But then again, it's useless to try to make a point with you silly biker/pig-roaster/computer geeks (there are so many who fit that category, good lordy!).

People either love the Cowboys, and think that every player at every position is top 3 and upper echelon... or they hate the Cowboys, and think that every player is flawed and overrated. Really no grey area with that team, along with several other of your major ones (LA Lakers, NY Yankees come to mind).

My biggest question with Romo is- are the stats he puts up because of his playing skills, his decision making, and his abilities.... or is it because he is surrounded by excellent athletes and playmakers who make him look much better than what he actually is? Put him in Jacksonville... is he a 4000 yard/30 TD QB?

And on that note, put Garrard in Dallas... what QB does he become?

Romo is the right QB on the right team. I don't think that Peyton Manning would have put up the same numbers that Romo did last year if Peyton were on the cowboys. I also think that Romo would not have put up the numbers that Peyton did if he were on the Colts.

Romo makes the cowboy o-line much better. They had nearly the same line protecting the statue as they did when Romo became QB. That line didn't all of a sudden remember how to block, it was Romo is more mobile and able to get away from breakdowns from the line much better than the previous QB (that is why I think Peyton wouldn't have done as well in Dallas)

He's got an excellent line for the most part, and outstanding intelligent receivers. Keep in mind I'm a diehard Philly fan when I say this, but when he's behaving, Owens is the best receiver in football today. He's got all of the physical talents, and when not frustrated (his only downside), he's extremely tough to cover, makes intelligent decisions, and won't drop the ball. Course, as some secondaries have discovered, if you can cheat him on the bumps, he gets frustrated easily.

Bingo. For the same reason I think if you put Peyton Manning in another city with a different scheme (which to be fair, is tailored to his strengths) you end up with a different player.

Here, let me fix your quote for you as you forgot something (answer: reading comprehension):

Elessar wrote:

He drops when he's attempting to anticipate the hit in the majority of cases. He also tends to think too hard on the yards after catch, and will lose it.

Peyton Manning
To be fair, all stats are minus his rookie year since romo started 10 games in the 06 season.
career passing yards average 4210
Average TD Passes per season = 32
QB rating average 98

When Romo gets 10 yrs in and has those averages, then call him a superstar.
Or when he has a season with 49TDs 4557 yrds and a rating of 121.1. Whichever comes first. I'm betting on neither.

Until then he is mediocre.

Nah, your the joke around here. Always have been, always will be. Just like your "Sports Guru" tag and your cowboys in post season.

I didn't make the Sports Guru tag, tough guy, Cak did for the 2 mods in this section. It's funny to see your hatred of the Cowboys totally hinder your ability to reason (or spell "you're"). Stick to telling people how to build computers because sports talk obviously isn't something you're capable of doing rationally. Romo doesn't have the same career averages as Peyton Manning so he obviously must suck. I hope to shit you're just trolling.

You've got to be kidding. You're the fucking anal bead mangina guy from EQ right? And WE'RE the geeks? Stick to the fantasy league, chief.

And yeah, he gets rattled by (cheap) physical play and starts to overthink his routes. This leads to dropped passes. That why slower defenders like Sheppard and Dawkins are able to play him. You only have to frustrate him to shut him down. In fact, that's really the only way to shut him down, short of a Cover 2 Nickel + man assignment (modified Cover 3) which unfortunately can open the lanes if your ends and backers are weak.

But hey, you knew all that shit. Here's a hint for you, "tough guy". While we may have geek sides, it's likely folks the size of Khan and I played organized football, and often. Shit, I know I got dragged into it initially by the coaches. So you can disagree, but don't pull that omgurtehgeekz card bullshit. Especially coming from you, analbeads.

Neesha, Please just shut the fuck up if you can come up with anything other than personal attacks. I might hate the cowboys and their convict roster, but it hardly hinders my ability to look at numbers and facts as your fanboi status does you. As far as Romo's career goes, there's plenty of other examples of shinning new QB's running up super numbers their first few years only to fade into obscurity. Personally, I hope he does do well, he is a super nice kid and pretty funny in interviews.

Bingo. For the same reason I think if you put Peyton Manning in another city with a different scheme (which to be fair, is tailored to his strengths) you end up with a different player.

This theory will be tested in NY with Brettie and the Jets.

Oh, Jesus, I've heard it all now. All of a sudden Elessar, who I didn't think I had a problem with... ever... is now going to bash me because I disagree with his opinion of TO? I happen to think he's in the top 5 WRs in the league, just not number one (Randy Moss is better, for one). What's with all the anal bead Mangina talk? Do you even remember what was said that started that whole fiasco? I certainly do ("don't knock it til you try it" was all I said, and the hard dicks who so desperately wanted Neesha to be a chick suddenly had a whole new image in their heads). But hey, it's en vogue to bash Neesha I suppose, so go for it.

I'm happy you two big burly guys played organized football, but that doesn't mean shit. Khan said Romo was mediocre and I disagreed and pulled stats up that proved that unless he didn't know the definition of the word, he was way off base and was using his obvious hatred of the Cowboys to cloud his judgement. Does anyone here seriously think that Romo is not a top-notch QB? Is he really worse than Jason Campbell or Tavaris Jackson? Really?

As I have said repeatedly, and as anyone who knows me can tell you, I absolutely hate the fucking Cowboys. The only Dallas Cowboys I have ever liked were Deion Sanders and Bill Bates (who doesn't like that guy?). The rest of them can suck a dick, a crack pipe, or both (and most have). And while I may be a "homer" when picking my teams to do better than they probably will, I am also realistic about the teams I hate. I'll even put my money where my mouth is.

Khan is so convinced that the Cowboys are terrible and Romo is mediocre that this should be a no-brainer bet. I say the Cowboys go on to make the playoffs and win a game. If I am wrong, then I will stop posting on these boards forever. You'll never see another smartass remark from me as long as you live. If I am right, then Khan, will you do the same? Are you that confident in your assessment of the team? All it will take for you to win the bet is for one key player on the team to get hurt. Romo, Owens, or Barber. If one of them goes down, then their season is shot and their chances of making the playoffs, let alone winning a game, go right out the window.

So what'll it be? Put up or shut up.

If people keep doing the don't post forever bets, in a year no one will be here. Just a thought.

Anyway, Romo is a top 10 QB, but over rated in relation to how much the media hypes him up. I can understand why they do it though, he's a great personality and you WANT him to be great. He definately has the potential, but we'll have to see (and I'm an Eagles fan who hates the cowboys).

TO is the 2nd best reciever in the league. He drops too many balls and he pouts if he isn't involved with the game plan enough, but he also gets great seperation and is a beast to tackle after he gets the ball. It's not fair to say he only drops the ball when he's frustrated, because he has a lot of drops every single game, but even with those drops the guy is open almost every play, so he gets a ton of quality catches too. 2nd best is pretty damn good considering the talent level in the NFL.

Khan does have a point, outside all the shit flinging.

here's a perfect example of what Khan is saying

Daunte Culpepper:
YEAR TEAM G CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT

2000 MIN 16 297 474 62.7 3937 8.3 33 78 16 98.0
2001 MIN 11 235 366 64.2 2612 7.1 14 57 13 83.3
2002 MIN 16 333 549 60.7 3853 7.0 18 61 23 75.3
2003 MIN 14 295 454 65.0 3479 7.7 25 59 11 96.4
2004 MIN 16 379 548 69.2 4717 8.6 39 82 11 110.

He was considered one of the top 3 QB in the league, and faded in to sub par mediocrity

Tony Romo:
YEAR TEAM G CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT

2006 DAL 16 220 337 65.3 2903 8.6 19 56 13 95.1
2007 DAL 16 335 520 64.4 4211 8.1 36 59 19 97.4

If he continues to do it for next 10 years then Khan's point would be moot, but I tend to agree with him atm on Romo

That's why I said he has potential, but hasn't achieved it yet. There are tons of players that put together 2 solid years, and an extremely small, select few that do it for the long haul. Time will tell, but for the moment, he is in the top 10 QBs of the league, because most of the other QBs are in the same boat of being unproven over a long period, or proven to be sub par over that period.

I will not bet on never posting to these boards again. But I tell you what, IF the cowboys make it to the playoffs and win 1 game (a bye is not a win either). I will change my avatar to a cowboys logo or cowboys pic of your choice, Neesha, and keep it on until the beginning of next season.

If they don't make it to the post season and win 1 game, what do you offer?

Avatars mean dick to me. I am not a Cowboys fan, so why would I care if you had a Cowboys picture? I'm willing to put up or shut up, even if it wouldn't happen for 6 months. I am not all talk like you appear to be. And yes, I know that a win means a WIN, not a bye. I'd say this debate is over. Thanks for playing.

Wow. Because don't I like the terms of your bet and offer a different one that I think is more relevant to the disagreement I am all talk? Whatever, d0od.

early reports that Brady has a torn ACL...

Cincy SUCKS petitions the league to change their nickname to "ocho stinko" (couldn't happen to a better team)

Atlanta is either a surprise team or the Lions stink (looking at team history...)

Loved how Pittsburgh opened up the offense

How much did Carolina miss Jake last year?

Cleveland looked bad vs Dallas. Loved how Felix looked in his debut.

Did I mention that Cincy looked like they could lose vs an NCAA team? I bet they would like a do-over on that Rudi cut.

Was Philly that good or St. Louis that bad?

Looked like Seattle forgot to hit Starbucks before the game... or did they forget to reboot their system after upgrading to the regular season?

Tennessee won an ugly game. Jax couldn't run the ball. Did these teams switch jerseys from last year?
