Brian Westbrook having the presence of mind to stop and drop at the 1 yard line instead of going in for a score. 99.99% of other players would have seen nothing but OMG I'M GONNA GET A TD and would not have stopped, leaving Dallas a chance (albiet small) to have a miraculous comeback.

Kudos to Westbrook (though it probably sucks if you have him on your fantasy squad)!

It was certainly a selfless act as it insured the win for the Eagles. But in my mind a touchdown would have done the same thing.

The Cowboys have been the luckiest team in football all year. Yes, they would have been down two scores with just over 2:00 left in the game. With Westbrook taking a knee, there is no way the cowboys touch the ball.

Brilliant!

It would have put them up by 11, which takes only TD+2pt conv+Onside+Field goal to send to overtime. Which, while difficult, is certainly not impossible to do.

Running out the clock gaurantees victory, scoring does not. You always want to take the sure thing.

touchdown+2 point+onside+field goal in two minutes with no time outs when they hadn't scored a touchdown to that point and had a quarterback with an injured hand that was having difficulty just holding the ball much less throwing it...the game was over at that point either way

Tell that to Buffalo, week 5 of this year...when Dallas converted an onside kick with 20 seconds left in the game and went on to score the winning field goal.

It doesn't make any sense to give the ball to the opponent at all, too many chance for a flukey play or breakdown in the secondary...a 5 yard slant to TO can turn into an 80 yd TD catch and run and they are right back in it. Westbrook took away all doubt, which is what a smart player should always do.

Kudos to him for being smart enough to do it, but he got the idea from teammate Jon Runyan. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3158572
