This will either be a fantastic game or a blow out.

What do you think?

Much as I don't like the Pats, I don't see anyone in the NFL beating them right now. Desperately hoping for a good game though. Blowouts suck.

If the colts get behind early, I don't see Peyton shaking the monkey off his back.

Watch it be the first snow of the year in NE as well..

I hope the Colts win, but I would predict the Pats to win.

Gonna be a long week for Indy fans though, *wrings hands over and over*

Edit:

I hope to god Harrison is back, and Keiaho as well.

If it is, it'll be snowing on an empty stadium. It's @ Indy.

I just hope that the game lives up to the hype. It is probably going to be one of those very good games that will be considered a failure because the hype was so extreme, that no game can ever live up to it. But if we can get a game like, say, USC-Texas in the BCS title game from a few years ago... then wow. Will be an utterly fantastic game then.

I bet the score will be in the neighborhood of 17-14 with someone kicking a FG with under 2:00 to win it

I bet something like 28-21 Pats. I think both of those offenses can wear down even good defenses. I just think NE has a bit better D than Indy.

If the Colts can establish a decent running game with Addai, and I think they can

since they have played a much tougher schedule so far, but if Addai can gain 75-90yds on the ground

I think the Colts can keep the Pats offense off the field long enough to win

23-21

Pats, 38-21...

not just because they're playing like Flori-DUH in the Spurrier years, and Indy's QB played for Hillbilly U, er Tennessee...
not just because the Pats are beating the fuck out of everyone in sights

but also because

Brady has a shitload of weapons, and
I fucking loathe Peyton (Place) Manning.

I dunno man, to date NE has only played 3 teams with winning records for the first 8 games. Dallas and Washington. Their first 3 games were against 3 teams that were 0'fers, next 2 only had 1 win a piece. The Dallas game was a lot closer than the score would indicate since they ran it up in the last 10 sec instead of taking a knee.

Now look at the Colts schedule, every team they played with the exception of the first game with NO, had a winning record when coming up against the colts. On their game days, all but Carolina had only had one loss. SD 1-0, Hou 2-0, Den 2-1, TB 3-1, Jac 4-1 and Carolina had a respectable 4-2 record.

I wish we had an easy ass schedule like 2x NYJ and Miami to pad our record with...

I dunno, whenever the local Indy media gives this much hype over a game, the Colts usually lose.

It's almost be a blessing for them if they did lose though, the Media would be sucking the Pats off and Indy can quietly win out most of the season and go for another Super Bowl banner.

You sound like a Colts fan, Khan (and you said "we," so I assume you are). The fact is, it doesn't matter what a team's record was when they played the other teams, it matters how good that team really is. The Texans were 2-0 when they faced the Colts, but I wouldn't consider them a quality team (they are 3-5 now). Here are the facts:

Patriots
Jets 1-7
Chargers 4-3
Bills 3-4
Bengals 2-5
Browns 4-3
Cowboys 6-1
Dolphins 0-8
Redskins 4-3
(4 teams over .500)
Combined records: 24- 34

Colts
Saints 3-4
Titans 5-2
Texans 3-5
Broncos 3-4
Bucs 4-4
BYE
Jags 5-2
Panthers 4-3
(3 teams over .500)
Combined records: 27 - 24

Keep in mind that I am not a Pats fan nor am I a Colts fan (I only root for Joseph Addai, Tom Brady, and Wes Welker). I just think that you need to look at the big picture, instead of trying to put ye olde media spin on things to make the Patriots seem worse than they are. They are scoring 41 points a game. They are that good.

I will bet you that the Patriots beat the Colts. The loser cannot post on these boards for 1 week (other than your picks for the football pool). How about it?

I think NE will edge out Indy. I hate both teams. Both teams are great, but I think NE has the better team at this point. Indy has home field but I just don't think it's enough. I agree with the odds at this point, NE by 4 and I'll take the under 56.5.

The Pats a fantastic this year, but people are underestimating the Colts. The Colts really owe some thanks to the Pats though...who would believe that the SB winner could start their 3rd season in a row at 7-0 and still not the the "hyped" team to win it all? Great motivational fodder for Dungy. I'd give the edge to the home team in this matchup, and I really like the under because both teams will be trying to control the clock and keep the ball out of the other teams hands.

The only thing that really sort of makes it hard to judge is that Belichek is playing like a college coach and running up the score in garbage time, which makes the final scores look really impressive. I wonder how good the Colts would look if Dungy played that game too. I dunno. In several of their games, that was clearly not an option, but in a couple...

That's also kind of why I picked Pats to go 16-0 in the other thread. If there's any coach who's showing he's willing to risk his starters in meaningless situations, it's Belichek. It's like he's trying to pad stats or something. I think they'll go for the perfect season just because they can.

at least it's a good game, a blowout on either side would've been about as disappointing as the people on tv talking about how this is a future Super Bowl match up~

great game, still think these teams are dead even

grats to the Pats

but these teams could play 4 times and I'd still see them splitting 2-2

on a brighter note, my Saints with their 4th in a row !

Good game.

Lot of mistakes by both sides--Pats made them over three quarters, Indy did it at the goal line then in the last eight minutes. I seemed to see more Pats defense mistakes--bias on my part of course--but they did keep the Pats in a game. Obviously, the Indy defense played them well, particularly in the first half. One of the "Talking Heads" stated that Indy had a clear advantage in special teams. That was not the case. Wess Welker may be the only one to NOT receive the "humble pie enema" from Belichick this week for his returns, and the Pats consistently punted Indy deep.

Oh . . . and Dallas? You want them to take a knee? Do not call a meaningless time out or allow your players--or is it "the Player?"--to act like an ass prior to the game. As a friend of Bill "Sports Guy" Simon text-messaged him right after Dallas did that, "Here comes the FU TD."

One Wonk who picked Indy to win a close game then predicted they would lose to a San Diego team that has "turned its season around." So much for THAT prediction. Unless something really bad happens, Indy will look to hurt San Diego.

Oh and props to Cleveland and the Lions.

Injuries are a part of football. New England was missing their #1 cover corner.

While I agree that injuries are part of the game, a likely first ballot hall of famer represents enough of a difference for me to favor the Colts if they have a rematch in the playoffs and he is healthy.

They may have Harrison back, but they'll be playing in the freezing cold of a Foxboro January. And we all know how that's gone for them in the past.
