The Grossman experiment is O-V-E-R.

Unless you are positioning us for a draft pick... LET IT GO!!

Yeah.

Nothing personal Rex, but . . . well . . . you just do not have "it." I mean, seriously.

Maybe we can trade Gagne to you? Can Grossman pitch . . . oh wait, "accuracy" is a problem. Just forget I mentioned it. . .

Anyways, that game was UGly. Poor Rex mentioned in his press conference how the team was "in control" early. What? 3 to 3 is NOT "in control." Buffalo was more "in control" when they led 7 to 3 until the Patriots though, "hey, wait! The game's started!"

One of the picks--the second to last one?--you could simply see "happening" before Rex threw the ball. The defender was right there. It was obvious.

Criticisms are not personal: I am sure Rex is a "good guy." However, he is not an NFL-level quarterback.

I remember in 2003 the Packers were set to take Rex if he was still available at 29 and were somewhat disappointed that the Bears took him at 22. Instead we got Nick Barnett that year. :sign5:

Jim Harbaugh 1989-1993 (first round pick)
Steve Walsh 1994
Erik Kramer 1994-1995, 1997-1999
Rick Mirer 1997 (we traded a first round pick for him)
Dave Krieg 1996
Shane Matthews 1999-2001
Cade McNown 1999-2000 (first round pick)

2000s
Jim Miller 2001-2002
Henry Burris 2002
Kordell Stewart 2003
Chad Hutchinson 2004
Jonathan Quinn 2004
Craig Krenzel 2004
Kyle Orton 2005
Rex Grossman 2006 (first round pick)

I dont know a starting QB in the NFL that I wouldn't take over Rex at this point. Even Alex Smith.

Rex is B A D.

They need to bench him now if they want to have a chance

Da Boys have played 3 bad teams.

What are their combined records now? 3-6?

Lets see when the boys play the Eagles and Packers... *sigh*... is that really the class of the NFC now?

Yeah, I think it's pretty safe to say AFC Champ = Super Bowl champ once again.

We still have Griese and Orton. I would take either of those over Aaron Brooks. I dunno, maybe we can win only 1 game and draft another QB? Wait.. we need D-Line and Safety... frakin injuries again.

Benson is the real deal though, I am happy with him overall.

I never understood the problem with Orton.

Now, having said that... he definitely does not have the skill set of an elite QB. We are all aware of that. However, what I do remember of him when he played as a rookie, was that he led his team to a 10+ win season, took them to the playoffs, and they were a playmaker or two away from having a great team.

Orton does not make mistakes. He manages the game, does not turn the ball over, moves the chains, and can probably put up 17-21 points per game. Granted, he cannot make any spectacular plays... but is that what the Bears need? Is a spectacular play QB? They need someone to guide the offense, make routine throws, and let their defense do what they do best- play defense.

Orton is a poor man's Dilfer. Put that in your cheerios...

Lovie Smith is used to his D making up for SOME chances being taken. Remember, Mike Martz was his head coach on the Rams. That is the only reason I can think of that Grossman continues to be the starter.

Didn't da Bears change Offensive Coordinators this year too?

Same O-coordinator, new D. Rivera went to SD and Babich is the new D-coordinator.

I think the Bears locker room would have exploded with more of Grossman.

I disagree with the "blurb" from Clayton about how Grossman "got them" to a Super Bowl. "Da Bears" got to the SB in spite of Grossman . . . but that is old news of course!

With the White Sox falling apart, if the Cubs fail and Da Bears sliding down the drain . . . Chicago will be having a very miserable Winter.

Eminem's song, Lose Yourself best be ringing in that guys head. He has an amazing opportunity here to take a very good team that is playing poorly and bring them right back. Since the 85 Bears, our receiving corps has not been more ready, the o-line more solid, the running game so set to take it to the next level.

I realize I am a fanboi with this... but damn I am excited.

Have you not followed Griese's career to this point? Heh.

He's a very capable backup, but he's not the answer to your problems in Chicago.

I think your o-line and rushing game are quite a bit more problematic than you suspect, 26th out of 32 in rushing

and that WHOPPING 3.2 yds per carry by Benson is superb, Chi has, is and will regret losing T. Jones

Benson is not all that good and most experts have been saying that for 2 years now.

that being said yeah griese is not the long term answer, but he should win a few more games for the Bears

Draconi

P.S. your defensive secondary is pretty ordinary too, they got schooled for 3 quarters last week

Our D isnt what it should be you are right there. I feel that time will right that ship though. T. Jones isnt stellar in NY, so I dont think we are sweating losing him 3 games into the season.

Griese isnt the long term answer, I agree with that. But we can't help but look better this week with him in the starting role.

not saying to sweat overly on losing T.Jones as much as I'm saying Cedric Benson can't catch a pass

1/100th of the way Jones could out of the backfield, and can't make people miss the way Jones did either and he's not fast
enough to plow thru the middle being a big back.

now I'm not saying T.Jones was a all world RB by any means, but I am saying Cedric Benson is right up there

with a Kevin Jones, and others as RB's go

the Bears running game will struggle all season.

you must admit that the RB's not catching a pass out of the backfield was part of Grossman's fault. I was watching the game Sunday and that play where RG had to scramble for his life, Peterson was just to his left and could have run for a ways if he just threw the ball to him. (He didn't see him)

Grossman couldn't see a 400lb lineman who just fell at his feet. I know, I know, the speed of the game is faster than those of us watching it can realize. But he is in the NFL, not the local Pee Wee league and his vision should be broader.

The Bears D looked good until it had to stay on the field for what, 80% of the game due to the Bad Rex keeping the offense off the field with picks, bad throws or drops by his receivers and RB's.

Yep, I have been trying to explain to my Brittish friends at work how inter-dependant everthing is in American Football.

You must be able to run the ball to have a good passing game.
You must be able to pass the ball to have a good running game.

When defenses in the NFL KNOW what you are doing due to down and distance and/or score then your offense is in trouble.

That is what makes the Patriots so damn scary now. They are jumping out to big leads and letting the other team's offense press and beat themselves. The Pat's Defense isn't as good as the Bears or Ravens, but because the Pat's offense is exponentially better than the bears or ravens that makes them a better defense.

Also, don't look now, but my Steelers are playing that "control the clock and kick your ass on defense" game very well again.
